RUSH: Last week, the Seattle City Council approved a payroll tax on Amazon, the city’s largest employer — the company that’s responsible for creating more jobs than any other business in town.

After passing the tax, Councilwoman Kshama Sawant dared Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos to try and stop the “Amazon tax.” She warned him that if he objects, he’ll lose.

That was just for starters. Listen carefully to what this elected official said to her city’s largest job creator:

“We are coming for you and your rotten system,” she told Bezos. “We are coming to dismantle this deeply oppressive, racist, sexist, violent, utterly bankrupt system of capitalism — this police state. We cannot and will not stop until we overthrow it and replace it with a world based instead on solidarity, genuine democracy, and equality — a socialist world.”

Now, Mr. Bezos, if you expected gratitude for building a business that employs hundreds of thousands of people — a business that turned Seattle into a techno-magnet — forget it! These leftists, these elected officials — your elected officials — hate you, they hate your business, and they hate your success.

And make no mistake, ladies and gentlemen: Leftists won’t stop until they turn America into what Seattle has become. A dangerous, lawless, socialist hellhole.

Why Amazon stays there amid all this hate, I really don’t know.
