RUSH: Robert, Mount Pleasant, Utah. Great to have you, sir. Hi.
CALLER: Hello, Rush. Mega dittos from small-town America. It’s an honor to speak with you.
RUSH: Thank you, sir.
CALLER: Well, hey, just quick to the point. You say presidential elections matter and 2020 is just right around the corner. I want to take you back to 2008, the Obama election. I have a father-in-law, I was trying to figure out who I was gonna voted for, and my father-in-law mentioned your name and how you were an idiot, you didn’t know what you were talking about, you’re a big joke. So I thought, well, who’s this Rush Limbaugh guy? So I tuned in to you and ever since then I’ve been hooked.
You’ve lit the fire of conservatism and patriotism, and my sister, who was going to university at the time, she was showing some liberal tendencies, so I said, “You need to tune into this guy Rush.” And she had no idea who you were and she tuned in and she’s been hooked ever since. And so I just wanted to say thank you. Your impact on me and my family, and even my children who I’m reading your books to each and every night, will hopefully continue that fire of conservatism and patriotism.
RUSH: Well, thank you very much. I suspect that you probably — you say that I lit the conservative fires. I think your conservative embers were there. And you heard me, and it probably caused you to say, “Yeah, yeah, that’s what I think, that’s what I think.” You were not a mind-numbed robot.
CALLER: Correct.
RUSH: And, by the way, I owe your dad a great gratitude by insulting me to the point that you had to tune in to find out what was up. And that I won that little contest too. So I appreciate it. I really do. I never tire of hearing how it is or was that people ended up finding or coming to this program. So thanks, Robert, very much.
