RUSH: Folks, this is great. This is very, very good. It was only yesterday right here on this program we were discussing the testimony at the time of the attorney general, William Barr, before a bunch of these inflated ego congressional committees. And Mr. Snerdley asked me a question: “Do you think there will ever actually be an investigation into what happened, into who did this, who was behind this coup to get rid of a president, overturn the presidential elections, and do you think that we will ever see results from it?”
And I paused, and I said to Mr. Snerdley, “I do. I think this attorney general, William Barr, is the guy who’s going to do it. I think that’s why he’s there.” And I reminded everybody of the memo that Barr wrote in the middle of the investigation saying that this whole claim that Trump had obstructed, because he fired Comey, was literally baseless.
Less than 24 hours after making those comments the attorney general William Barr has confirmed that he believed the Trump campaign was spied on at least as far back as 2016 and that he has convened, or will convene, an investigation into it. He said that he doesn’t think it’s the entire FBI that was involved, just some individuals. Well, he knows what went on, this is the bottom line here. He knows. He knows what we know.
Remember, my friends, when Trump said long ago that his wires were tapped at Trump Tower, remember how everybody started mocking Trump and laughing at him? It turns out Trump was right. And shortly after Trump made those comments, they moved the campaign headquarters out of Trump Tower after a tip that the National Security Agency head, Mike Rogers, gave Trump. Mike Rogers at the NSA has never been part of the cabal. He’s never been part of the FBI intelligence community attempt to get rid of Trump. He’s always stood in the way of it.
As such, that cabal tried to leave Mike Rogers out of the loop. Brennan didn’t want Mike Rogers to know what they were doing or was going on. It was shortly after that Mike Rogers gave Trump a tip about the possibility. They packed everything up and moved the essence of the campaign out of Trump Tower when all of this happened.
So this is in the early stages, but, folks, this is something I was confident was gonna happen when Barr was confirmed, some of the things that had said up ’til today. But he let it out today. He was asked point-blank if he thinks there was spying on the campaign. He paused, and he was looking for the right way to say it. He said, no, Senator, there was spying. There was spying.
He knows there was spying. He knows who the spies were. He knows the informants that were implanted into the Trump campaign. The reason this is important, obviously just the idea of getting to the truth, is that the inspector general looking into the FISA abuse can only talk to people who were there at the moment. He can’t talk to people who are not there who have been fired or who have resigned. Well, many of the people involved in the FISA abuse are gone and may not even be reachable by the inspector general, so this will pick up the slack.
Let’s go to the audio sound bites and — oh. One thing. Grab sound bite number 26 first. This is a point that I raised several times during the course of this program throughout our constant discussions of this silent coup. Remember when we first got wind of the FBI placing informants in the Trump campaign, Stefan Halper, I remember he was interviewed by Sam Clovis, by the way. Sam Clovis interviewed Halper.
Halper tried to get hired on the Trump foreign policy team. And the way Halper did it, he used to work for Bush 41 and he used to work for Reagan and he tried to leverage that experience. Thank goodness Sam Clovis didn’t hire him. But what was supposed to happen, Halper was supposed to get hired, he’s already reporting to the FBI, he’s working for the FBI as an informant, he would later then be used with the Papadopoulos sting, if you will.
And what was gonna happen was that Halper was gonna then join the Trump foreign policy team. And guess what he was gonna do? He was gonna start talking to Russians. And they were going to create the collusion. They attempted to create the collusion when they couldn’t find any.
That’s how close we came, it’s how despicable this was. And when it was finally revealed, and the FBI themselves admitted that they suspected — remember Comey, Clapper and these guys were all on television saying they suspected that the Russians had hooks into the Trump campaign, and people started asking, “Did you tell the Trump campaign about this?”
Why not? If you think one of the two presidential campaigns has been infested with a bunch of spies from Russia, why the hell wouldn’t you tell them? Well, the answer is obvious: Because they implanted the spies and they were hoping to entrap some people into engaging in conspiratorial collusion and so forth.
And this is the question that Barr raised today. The Drive-Bys, by the way, are beside themselves because they were in on this. You ought to see the solemn faces at MSNBC, CNN today reporting this. Because what the Drive-Bys are gonna have to do now, as this investigation gets underway, they’re gonna have to portray themselves as duped. But they weren’t duped by anybody. They were active participants in this whole scam.
But you can see the solemn look on their faces this investigation will turn up. They’re gonna have to pretend and portray themselves as, “Hey, we trusted our sources. Our sources were telling us there was collusion.” And they know full well there wasn’t. They were active participants in this whole scam for this entire hoax.
This happened just a few minutes ago. Barr hilariously — Brian Schatz, who’s the Democrat from Hawaii, told Barr after Barr had said, “I think there was spying. I think the Trump campaign was spied on. I have no doubt the Trump campaign was spied on.”
So this guy Brian Schatz, Democrat, Hawaii, told Barr that he wanted to give him another chance to rephrase what he had said earlier about spying. In other words, “Attorney General Barr, you didn’t really mean to say that you think there was spying on the Trump campaign, and I’m gonna give you a chance here to rephrase what you said.”
Schatz said that Barr’s comment was gonna make the cable news ecosystem go crazy. That’s what he’s thinking about? The cable news ecosystem’s gonna go crazy because Barr’s saying he thinks the Trump campaign was spied on? Barr simply replied that he meant surveillance.
He asked Schatz if that made him feel any better. (laughing) How about if I say surveillance instead of spying? That make you feel better, Senator, that make you feel better, Congressman? It was comedy gold and Schatz didn’t even realize it. These people are so stiff and they are so serious, they have no sense of humor whatsoever.
And Barr was saying, “Okay. You don’t like ‘spy’? How about they were ‘surveilling’ the Trump campaign? Does that make you feel better?” Let’s just start with 26. This is the most recent, relevant bite. Question from Senator Lindsey Grahamnesty. “Would it be odd, Attorney General Barr, that the candidate [meaning Trump] was never really briefed by the Department of Justice, that his campaign may have been targeted by a foreign entity?”
BARR: That is one of the questions I have is, I feel normally the campaign would have been advised of this. I’m interested in getting that answer. They had two former U.S. attorneys in Chris Christie and Rudy Giuliani involved in the campaign, and I don’t understand why the campaign was not advised.
RUSH: Bingo! Big time key, because the Russians doing the targeting were FBI plants. That’s why. But he’s raising a logical question. Well, he knows what went on here. We all know what went on. Everybody knows now that everybody knows what went on, and I’m telling you there are quaking in the boots in the homes of Comey and Clapper and Brennan and McCabe and Priestap and Baker and Strzok and Page, because now it’s out.
Barr has known all along. We finally got the guy who is gonna dig into this because, as I said yesterday in response to Snerdley’s question, this guy cares about the judicial system, that there be one tier in our system of justice, not two or more, that it be equal and applied to everybody. He understands the importance of the rule of law. He understands exactly what happened here, as we all do. This is just the first time it has been officially stated.
By the way, Trump today on the White House lawn on the way to the helicopter on the way to Air Force One to go to a speech in San Antonio, started talking about this as a coup! He called it a scam. He called it illegal. He called it a coup. Both barrels are being fired from both sides of Washington today at this cabal that ran this operation. This is a legitimate question here. If you’re spying, if you think the Russians are spying on the Trump campaign, why not tell them?
Why not tell the Trump campaign? For crying out loud, everybody’s running around talking about what a serious thing this is. “Why, Trump was colluding with the Russians! Holy smokes. We can’t put up with that. This is unprecedented.” Well, if you think that’s going on, why didn’t you advise them? That’d be the right thing to do if you think a presidential campaign’s being targeted by the Russians. Well, that’s not at all what they were setting up.
They wanted to set up that Trump was aware of it and was exploiting it, for which there was never any evidence, as I say over and over. Okay. To the top of the audio sound bites. Jeanne Shaheen, senator, Democrat, New Hampshire, says to the attorney general, “Can you share with us why you feel the need to do that investigation into the origins of this investigation?” That’s what’s got all this started is that Barr told these people he’s gonna look into how this happened.
He said, “Look. I’ve read the report. There’s nothing in it. There’s no collusion. There isn’t any obstruction in it. There was no reason for this. And we’re gonna do an investigation into how the hell this got started and when.” And so Shaheen is saying (impression), “Can you share with us why you feel the need to do that investigation into origins of this investigation?”
BARR: I think spying on a political campaign is a big deal. It’s a big deal. The generation I grew up in, which is the Vietnam War period, you know, people were all concerned about spying on anti-war people and so forth by the government. And there were a lot of rules put in place to make sure that there’s an adequate basis before our law enforcement agencies get involved in political surveillance. I’m not suggesting that those rules were violated, but I think it’s important to look at that.
RUSH: So she says (impression) “So you’re not suggesting… You’re not suggesting that spying occurred. Oh, you wouldn’t possibly be asserting to us here that spying occurred. I mean, you’re not really saying that, right? You’re not saying that the Clinton campaign spied on the Trump campaign? You’re not saying that members of the Obama administration actually deigned to spy on the Trump campaign? You’re not saying any of that actually went on, are you?”
BARR: I think spying did occur, yes. I think spying did occur.
SHAHEEN: Well, let me —
BARR: The question is whether it was predicated, adequately predicated, and I’m not suggesting it wasn’t adequately predicated, but I need to explore that. I think it’s my obligation. I’m reviewing this. I haven’t set up a team yet, but I have in mind having some colleagues help me pull all this information together and let me know whether there’s some areas that should be looked at. I feel I have an obligation to make sure that government power is not abused. I mean, I think that’s one of the principal roles of the attorney general.
RUSH: All right. So there he was throwing them a bone and then trying to get ’em to stay outside, rather than poke their nose in the kitchen. This is very good. “Well, what do you mean?” Okay, I’ll explain this. She goes on. She says (paraphrased), “You’re not suggesting that spying occurred. You’re not suggesting the Obama administration spied on Trump. You’re not suggesting that Hillary spied. You’re not suggesting any of that, right? You’re not suggesting that anybody?” “Oh, yeah, yeah, I am. Spying did occur.”
Sledgehammer hitting head of Jeanne Shaheen and other Democrats. So, realizing what he’s just done Barr said, “But wait. The question is whether it was predicated.” Meaning, the question is whether it was warranted. “Ohhhh, okay! So you’re gonna look into spying, but you hope to find that maybe there was a reason for the FBI to spy on Trump, and maybe there was a reason for Obama to spy on Trump, and maybe there was a reason for Hillary to spy on Trump.” That’s what he’s telling them here.
“Oh, yeah, there was spying. There’s no question. The question is whether it was predicated,” meaning whether it was warranted, “and I’m not suggesting it wasn’t adequately predicated. I’m going to explore that. So he throws ’em the bone, keeps ’em out in the backyard chasing the bone instead of coming in the kitchen chasing him. Brilliantly done here. Brilliantly done. But they weren’t finished. Here is Senator Pat “Leaky” Leahy, also nicknamed “Depends,” querying the attorney general.
“Did you have any conversations with the special counsel about why he did not reach a conclusion one way or the other on obstruction…?” I should set this up. These people remain convinced that there’s collusion, the Democrats. They remain convinced that there was obstruction. They remain convinced that Barr is lying.
They remain convinced that somebody’s got Mueller tied up in a room with only bread and water. They are convinced that Mueller is desperately trying to get the truth out but that Barr has him stowed away in some safe house, rewriting everything that Mueller did. So here comes Leahy getting to the truth. “Did you have any conversations with Mueller about why he didn’t reach a conclusion one way or the other on obstruction?”
BARR: Yes, I did. And he also has a fuller explanation of that in the report that I’ll be making available, hopefully next week.
LEAHY: Did he express any expectation or interest in leaving the obstruction decision to aggression?
BARR: Not that… He didn’t say that to me, no.
LEAHY: So he said the obstruction decision should be up to you?
BARR: He didn’t say that, either. But that’s generally how the Department of Justice works. A prosecutor’s role at the end of the day is binary: Are there charges or no charges, or is this a crime or not a crime?
RUSH: Well, here one more. You gotta hear the next. Play audio sound bite number 4.
LEAHY: Have you overruled Mr. Mueller or his team on any redaction question?
BARR: No.
LEAHY: One way or the other?
BARR: No.
LEAHY: K. Have you discussed any specific redactions with the White House?
BARR: No.
RUSH: The next sound you hear is that of the Coyote going off the cliff, having his Acme bomb fall right on the top of his head.
BREAK TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: Attorney General Barr turned it upside down today, turned everything on its head. So the whole thing’s now shifting from Trump and away from Trump toward the conspirators. It was really great today. Lindsey Graham brought up Senator Feinstein and how the FBI warned her when she had a ChiCom spy on her staff for 20 years. Remember that? She had a spy. Her driver and who knows what other else was spying for the ChiComs on her staff for 20 years.
Fox cut to Feinstein and a staffer jumped up to whisper in her ear. He was probably telling her which ChiCom spy Graham was talking about. Now, imagine Senator Jeanne Shaheen’s question. Stop and think about her question for a second. She really asked the attorney general of the United States — she really asked him — why he felt the need to investigate when the FBI apparently used phony information to get a FISA warrant to spy on a political campaign.
Now, you can bet Ms. Shaheen never once questioned the need to investigate Trump for colluding with Russians. That made total sense to her. She never once thought about asking anybody why they were doing that. But now when somebody wants to get the bottom of the investigation, “Why do you feel the need to investigate the investigation?” And then Senator Leahy, “Has the White House told you about what’s redacted? Have you discussed any of this with Trump?” “No. No. And the special counsel’s all aboard with me here, Senator.”

RUSH: Have sound bite number 24 standing by.
I want to play sound bite number 4 again, but I had to squeeze it in in a precious few amount of busy broadcast seconds. And it really is important. The Democrats — it may sound funny, and I guess it is, but they still, and the media — and, by the way, MSNBC and CNN are continuing to hemorrhage audience. New ratings for last week, the hemorrhaging that began the week before continued last week. It’s not pretty. Their audiences require fake news. They cannot deal with facts or reality.
They have to get fake news so they’re looking for narratives to get the audiences back. And one of the narratives is that Barr’s lying. They’re hiding the truth. That essentially Robert Mueller has been kidnapped. He’s tied up in an isolated room in a distant Washington safe house, nothing but a pale of water to urinate in and a loaf of bread to eat, and he’s being tortured until he admits to go public with the idea that he found no collusion and no obstruction.
I mean, it’s a bit of an exaggeration, but they remain convinced that collusion was found but Barr, the handpicked attorney general, like every other presidential appointee is handpicked, is somehow messing with the truth. Just like in their world, exit polls should count more than actual votes.
So here’s Leahy giving it one last college try. (paraphrasing) “Have you overruled Mueller or his team on any redaction question?”
“Uh, nope.” See, they’re convinced that Barr’s in there redacting all kinds of stuff and that Mueller’s objecting, but they got Mueller tied up in the basement of the safe house with Wile E. Coyote so he can’t do anything about it.
So Barr says, “Nope. Mueller’s not overruled me at all.”
“Not one way or the other?”
“No. No. Not at all.”
Leahy: “Well, damn. Okay. Well, how about this, Mr. Attorney General. Have you discussed any specific redactions with the White House?” Meaning, “Is Trump redacting this thing? Is that what’s really going on, you’ve let Trump see it?”
“Uh, no. No, uh, the special counsel is not tied up in the basement of a safe house with a pale to urinate in or a loaf of bread. He’s working with me on these redactions. We don’t have any disagreements about anything so far. And the president doesn’t even know what’s in it yet.”
Folks, this is why you never give up. This is why you never let forlorn despondency take over. And we’re not there yet. There still has to be the actual investigation. Right now we’re told there’s going to be. And Barr, he knows what went on. Gotta follow through on it. Oh, grab sound bite 27. You have to hear this too. I referenced this, but I want you to hear it.
The Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator Brian Schatz, Democrat from Hawaii, he is convinced that Barr didn’t mean to say that he thinks that the Trump campaign was spied on. He misspoke.
So Senator Schatz is going to graciously give Barr a second chance, a second stab at this, is gonna give him a chance to revise and extend his remarks. He’s gonna give him a chance to take it back, is gonna give him a chance to say, “You’re right, Senator. I didn’t mean to say that I thought the Trump campaign was being spied on.” Here’s how that exchange went.
SCHATZ: Do you want to rephrase what you’re doing, uh, because I think the word “spying” could cause everybody in the cable news ecosystem to freak out, and I think it’s necessary for you to be precise with your language here. You normally are, and I want to give you a chance to be especially precise here.
BARR: I’m not sure of all the connotations of that word that you’re referring to, but unauthorized surveillance. I want to make sure there was no unauthorized surveillance. Is that more appropriate in your mind?
SCHATZ: I — this is your call. I really did want to give you a chance to say it how you wanted to say it and make sure that you didn’t misspeak.
RUSH: (imitating Barr and Schatz) “Yeah, we know you really didn’t mean that you think there was spying going on out there.” “Oh, the hell I didn’t, I damn well did. If you want to call it surveillance, unauthorized surveillance, fine. Whatever you want. I’m telling you spying happened.”
And this chance now that it’s gonna cause everybody in the cable news ecosystem to freak out, damn right it is, because they were willing participants in this whole hoax, scandal, what have you. And any investigation that is worth its salt is going to reveal media complicity here. It’s going to reveal it. Their only hope is to say they were duped, they trusted their sources, there were multiple sources, and we always knew Trump was a reprobate, so this stuff sounded true to us.”

RUSH: We’re going to get started now with your phone calls and go to Detroit. This Eric. Thank you for waiting, sir. You’re up first today. Hi.
CALLER: Hi, Rush. It’s a pleasure to talk to you. I’ve been a student at the institute since 1989, so really a lifer.
RUSH: Thank you, sir, very much. I appreciate that.
CALLER: Hey, you know, Rush, I heard you talking yesterday — and multiple days, really — about, you know, the fact that Mueller has known that there’s not been any collusion for months, if even year/year and a half, right? And, you know, now people are making comments like, “Wow. We’re really fortunate that, you know, we can trust our government and we can trust our officials.” I guess what I’m not hearing a lot of discussion about now is the damage that’s already been done.
By that, I specifically mean the midterm elections last fall. I mean, you know, there was a giant cloud hanging over, you know, the presidency with this collusion allegation and everything else that was going on, which was used to essentially stymie Trump’s agenda in the first two years. The base got unsettled and others got unsettled and, you know, now, we’ve lost the House, right? And so, you know, now I’m supposed to feel good that —
RUSH: No!
RUSH: No. No, no, no.
CALLER: (crosstalk)
RUSH: That has been my point from the get-go, that we’re not supposed to thank Mueller for not finding collusion and we’re not supposed to thank these guys for letting Trump out of it. We’re… No! You’re exactly right. Not just that. The whole thing did work. It ended up paralyzing much of the Trump agenda. It kept his approval numbers below 50 in Drive-By Media polls. Imagine if this guy had a 55, 56% approval rating in his first with it two years.
Let’s talk about the people who were ruined, whose wealth was wiped out in legal fees, who are gonna be spending time in jail — in some cases for the rest of their lives — and they would not have even been pursued had this hoax not been commenced. There is scorched-earth damage all over the place. Michael Flynn — who has been nothing but a patriot for his professional career in this country — was set up. A number of other people were attempted to be set up, a number of other people that you don’t even know who worked in the Trump campaign back in ’15 and ’16, ’17, have been wiped out financially.
And now they’ve got a stigma attached to they mean on their resumes and so forth.
So, no, you’re exactly right — and the damage done to the country as well, the damage done to public opinion, the damage done to the perception of the system of justice in this country and the rule of law. I mean, these people pulled out all of the stops. What we’re feeling good about here, Eric, is the indication from the attorney general that we’re gonna find out about this. We’re gonna look at it, we’re gonna investigate it, and hopefully we’re gonna find out and name names, and that there’s going to severe punishment for this. Because much of this is indeed criminal that took place! That’s what people are finally feeling good about, not the fact that it happened and was defeated.

RUSH: Keith in Jupiter, Florida. It’s great to have you, sir. I’m glad you waited. I appreciate it.
CALLER: Mega dittos from across the Intercoastal, Rush. Thank you.
RUSH: You bet.
CALLER: It’s a really a great day today. Let me add another piece to the speculation on the Robert Mueller report. Mueller was praised as this man with this impeccable honor and integrity, and he was the greatest person that was gonna be able to do this investigation. Well, what if that’s true? What if he really does have honor and integrity and he got in there and realized, “Wow, this coup goes all the way to the top,” and he comes out with this report spelling out — you know, just like James Comey did. What if this report spells out everything that happened and he kind of wrote himself his own get-out-of-jail-free card for he and his buddies by spelling out what happened?
RUSH: Well, now, I must share with you that I have, in my own mind, toyed with some possibilities. Because, like you, I’ve asked oftentimes on the program, “If this guy is Mr. Integrity, why did he take it after he found out? He could have learned the first day that what we were told didn’t happen.” Now, we’ve been told that he knew for at least a year and a half into his report, which was two years, that there was no collusion. So I was thinking various things along those same lines as you.
The original thinking, between him putting… Every investigator on this staff is a Hillary supporter. Every one of his lawyers had either donated to Hillary or voted for Hillary or hated Trump, and people said, “He’s doing that on purpose. He’s doing that so that when he exonerates Trump, nobody can gripe about it because he had nothing but Trump haters on his team.” You know, people have been going back and forth with all kinds of theories. I myself have wondered, “If this guy is Mr. Integrity, he had to see that there was nothing to this.” So your theory is that he’s known this from the get-go but he had to save himself? He had to protect himself with who?
CALLER: I think he had to protect himself and maybe some close friends or some close allies as best he can and maybe to leverage that to maybe protect the Obama legacy.
CALLER: Yeah, I believe it is. I believe it is going to identify everything all the way up to the top but let somebody else, you know —
RUSH: Well, now, wait. If it does that, then there wouldn’t be any reason for Barr saying today that he thinks Trump was spied on, that there’s gonna be an investigation. Because the report would say that, essentially. If the report identifies Hillary colluding with Russians to create the dossier, for example… This was an item, for example, that you think the report could contain under your theory. Pshew! That’s gonna be the biggest bombshell this country has ever seen politically, because nobody is expecting that.
CALLER: I would love to see it.
RUSH: Well, it’s fascinating to think about it. It’s fascinating to toy with it. But, you know, he raises an interesting point just about honor and integrity itself, and the reason this is… I just brought up George Washington. There wouldn’t be a United States without George Washington. It’s impossible. It is impossible. Just as a side observation, it is impossible to thoroughly explain and justify and celebrate and praise, whatever, George Washington in one book. Nobody can do it.
Robert Mueller — correct — was touted. And for his entire career in Washington, by the way, his reputation has been impeccable. His reputation has been unsullied. His reputation has been top tier. “Mr. Integrity. Mr. Honor. Done it all. Attorney general, FBI director. He’s worked for presidents across the aisle. You can’t question the guy’s integrity.” This is the reputation that Mueller brought to this. I was asking throughout it, “If all of that is true, how in the hell does this all happen?
“If he’s Mr. Integrity and Mr. Honor, then why did a bunch of people lose everything who had nothing to do with something that didn’t happen?” Stop and think about this. All these people that have been charged and had to make plea deals because they’ve run out of money paying their lawyers? Flynn makes a deal because they threaten to involve his son in this? Manafort? Manafort may be bad guy, but he had nothing to do with what this was about.
Manafort would not have ever been investigated for any of this had there not been this bogus allegation that Trump colluded with Russia. So how does any of that happen under the auspices of Mr. Integrity and Mr. Honor? Now, I can only imagine the pressures involved. Look, the Washington establishment… But Mueller himself is said to be one of the leaders. If there’s a leadership council, if there’s a top-tier, he’s in it! He is Mr. Washington. He is Mr. Establishment.
All this. This is the reputation. So then we get the report, and the report… You can’t say it exonerates Trump because Trump was never guilty of anything. But it found no collusion with Russia, and Mueller didn’t even want to attach his name to whether or not there had been obstruction. Barr looks at it, and in five minutes says there’s no obstruction and then says that Mueller is in total agreement with him. They’re working together to redact grand jury material and so forth.
There’s a lot of contradictory things here, and I can’t see that this report is going to actually end up providing evidence on the Hillary relationship to Steele and the Hillary relationship to the hacking of the DNC and the Hillary collusion with Russia and all the stuff that Brennan and Clapper did. If that would have leaked, if not to the media, it would have leaked to the people involved. You realize McCabe…? Has anybody seen McCabe, by the way, since the report?
This whole thing is just a whole series of enigmas and curiosities and controversies. But the very fact that Barr said today that he is convinced that a presidential campaign was spied on by elements of the FBI and that he’s going to investigate it and find out why. If this report that Mueller submitted contains any evidence of said investigation on the part of the Barr, then I don’t think… Barr wouldn’t have to announce an investigation because Mueller would have just concluded it.
So Mueller is gonna have some explaining to do because he let people think… After knowing for a year and a half there wasn’t any collusion, he led every leftist, every Democrat, everybody in the media — he and his team led everybody — to believe that there was. They continued to report it. They continued to leak it. There were unnamed, anonymous sources throughout this two-year period talking about Trump-Russia collusion.
Mueller didn’t do anything to stop it, except one time, when BuzzFeed ran a story about Michael Cohen that was so baseless and so off the wall that he had to step in and say that it wasn’t true. Other than that, every other lie, every other leak, every other allegation that there had been collusion was allowed to stand. And then the report gets presented, and there’s none?
BREAK TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: If you’re just joining us, William Barr, the attorney general, announced today during a Senate hearing that he is going to form a team of investigators to look into the FBI’s investigation of Donald Trump and so-called Russian collusion because it was entirely made up, it was a hoax, it was a political scandal. And it is flipped everything upside down today.
It has just changed the focus, taken it away from Donald Trump and Trump-Russia collusion, the focus now away from Trump and back on the deep state, the administrative state. And it will include the media. It has to because they were willing — I don’t mean they’re gonna be investigated. They’re gonna be caught up in it. The FBI couldn’t have pulled this off without the media. The FBI, the intelligence agencies, Brennan and this bunch getting hired by CNN, for crying out loud, Clapper.
Here is Dave in Knoxville, Tennessee. It’s great to have you, sir. Hello.
CALLER: Wow, Rush. It’s an honor. I’ve been with you since the eighties.
RUSH: Well, that makes you a lifer. That makes you a lifer. I appreciate that.
CALLER: I was here before you got big. I can tell you that. It’s good stuff. Hey. This is my point. This is gonna be so negative against the Democrats if this investigation takes off like I think it is, I’m happy, that the Democrats are gonna have make themselves start to look good. And the only way they can do that is now by making headlines and such as to make themselves look good. Democrats have now seen the reasons for the wall and they are awarding $18 billion in contracts. Or the Democrats now have a solution for the immigration, and they are — and the Republicans are on board. You know, I think that’s what they’re gonna have to do.
RUSH: Well, you may have a little bit more faith in the Democrats than I do. I don’t want to sit here and have to pour cold water on anything today, and I’m not gonna look at this as pouring cold water on your point, but these people, despite the report and despite Mueller’s not finding any collusion or obstruction, despite Barr’s announced investigation, they’re not gonna give this up. And neither is the media.
They’re not gonna all of a sudden drop the effort to get rid of Trump. They’re not gonna drop their concerted efforts to defeat Trump in the 2020 election or to humiliate Trump or to send Trump to jail, whatever, however they can do anything, they’re gonna continue. Any investigation that begins is going to take a while. Nothing happens overnight in Washington.
Well, I take that back. People do get rich there pretty quick. But investigations like this, it’s gonna take a while. We’re not gonna know the results of this maybe before the 2020 election. We could. I mean, this could be something that shocks us all. Barr could get in there and make this happen. ‘Cause everybody knows what happened. This is the thing that we’ve gotta keep in mind. We know what happened.
Sometimes investigators make a big mistake. They create a theory of whatever crime or occurrence that they think happened and then they go try to find supporting evidence, when what you do is you go get the evidence and follow where it takes you. And you don’t hem yourself in by creating a theory that’s based only on instincts, desire, what have you. So you follow the evidence, and you go where it leads you, and then you find out what happened.
Well, in this case, we know what happened. It has been established. The investigation has been done by untold members of the media. Not the mainstream media. The so-called alternative media. There have been people who have been working so hard on this. You know some of their names. You don’t know many of them names.
But they have uncovered what really happened here, and they have published it in their publications, their websites, I have shared with you much of what they have produced. I have contributed my own theories to this based on the acquisition of facts.
We know what happened here. What we don’t know, the thing that is still largely unknown is exactly when this began and what, if there was a specific event that triggered it, what that was. Now, we know dates and occurrences. We know the attempts to implant spies in the Trump campaign. We know the way leaks were happening. We know the abuses in the FISA court. We know the Steele dossier was never true and unverified, never corroborated. We know that it was used illegally to get FISA.
We know so much. So an investigation here ought not take that long. We’re not starting from scratch. And we’re not, like they did, we’re not gonna be trying to prove something that didn’t happen. And this investigation’s not gonna be a PR job. In other words, it’s not gonna be some fantom, rogue thing that has no substance to it except a bunch of media reports every day. It’s gonna be real. And much of it is already known. So that will speed up the process.
People have been fired for their roles in this at the FBI. People have gone on record and lied about this. There has been perjury committed by many of these participants in congressional, House and Senate testimony. A lot is known. What isn’t decisively known — but it is discoverable because it’s in documents that still are classified and have not been declassified and released — when this began, who is responsible for it, that is what is not known. It’s theorized that it actually began in 2015 after Trump announced his candidacy.
