RUSH: Say, have you heard about the Trump administration’s hiring reforms? No? Well, this could be big, folks.
President Trump plans to actually use a never-tried provision of the 1990 Federal Employees Pay Comparability Act. It would bring government salaries in line with the private sector. That means they would be lowered.
Now, to reduce the permanent bureaucracy, Trump wants to make it easier to hire more temporary employees and interns, making it less attractive to the lazy crowd.
The president also wants more flexibility to fire government workers. Last year, he signed an Executive Order to speed up the firing process. A federal court struck it down, but Trump is appealing. Meanwhile, he’s pushing to get rid of poor-performers and those with behaviorial problems, but it’s very, very hard to do.
Donald Trump is doing it. For the first time in our lifetimes, real change is coming inside the massive federal bureaucracy, the administrative state, that would benefit taxpayers.
Which means: The Drive-Bys are about to inundate you with sob stories about downsized government workers. Don’t fall for it.
