RUSH: This is Virginia somewhere in North Carolina. I’m glad you called, Virginia. Hi.

CALLER: Yes, sir. How are you, Rush?

RUSH: Doing well. Doing well.

CALLER: Good. Good. Well, I’m calling because I want people to know that I’m an academic, I’ve been in academia almost 40 years. I’m a feminist. I’m a strong pro-choice individual. I’m an agnostic. I’m a registered Democrat that was brought up in a very staunchly Democrat home. Even as a kid I sat and watched all the Democrat conventions on television. My grandfather was very staunch Democrat; so was my father, and I’m one of those people that you would think would not support Trump, and I did. I supported him, I voted for him, I still support him.

And I’d really like to talk to my fellow Democrats, if any of them are listening, and tell them that they really need to think about supporting Donald Trump. I’m very concerned, even about those people that have supported him, because I see wobbling going on. And I think that there are people out there, and I hear them calling in to your show and they talk about how maybe they’re reconsidering supporting Trump in 2020 or even supporting him right now.

And I believe they’re getting confused by all the ersatz that’s being put out there, all the junk. And I would ask them to really think about, you know, don’t make a change, support this man, he’s really fighting for us. And he’s the only person who really comes out and tells us how things are. I don’t always agree with what he says or the way he says it, but I think he’s the only one out there that really, really has the American public’s back.

RUSH: Well, he’s certainly the most prominent. Look, there’s a few Republicans in the House who do. But you’re right, there’s not a one of them that could do what Trump is doing, and certainly not a one of them that could have gotten elected president on the agenda. The thing is, Trump got elected to do just what he’s doing.

CALLER: Absolutely.

RUSH: And he got elected as the person that he is. He’s not a surprise to anybody.

CALLER: That’s correct. And, you know, you can disagree with him at times. But, you know, we’re not voting based on his morality. We’re voting based on him saying that he’s going to do what he has promised to do. And when he came down the escalator and he started talking about immigration, that was the thing that really changed my mind. I have supported Hillary Clinton in the past. I even gave her some money, which I really regret that I had done. And I had, during the election, people calling me up asking me to support Hillary. And I told them absolutely not. It shocked them. I told them I was going for Trump.

RUSH: You probably lost them for a while as friends, then.

CALLER: Well, you know, I still get emails from people asking me if I’m supporting Trump. And being an academic I have to be very careful about what I say and do.

RUSH: Yes, you do.

CALLER: It is terrible.

RUSH: You’re engaging in quite the courageous and brave act here into publicly copping for this. Virginia, thank you. I appreciate your taking the time to give us a ring.
