RUSH: Have you heard that the Trump Organization planned to give Vladimir Putin a $50 million penthouse in the Trump Tower Moscow? Have you heard about this? Yeah. This is part of the deep investigation into Russian collusion by the special counsel, Mr. Integrity himself, Robert Mueller. Here are the details.
“The Trump Organization at one time planned to give Russian President Vladimir Putin a penthouse worth $50 million in the never-built Trump Tower Moscow, according to a new report. Felix Sater, a real estate developer and former mobster turned FBI informant who advised the Trump Organization on the deal.”
See, Trump has former mobsters working for him, and these former mobsters are helping Trump get the Trump Tower Moscow building built, and this former mobsters, Felix Sater, he’s the guy who suggested that they give Putin the penthouse as an incentive to get the thing built. This guy’s running around saying can you imagine the coup it would be if the Trump Tower Moscow was where Vladimir Putin lives? Everybody would want to live there. If we give away the penthouse to Putin, a $50 million value, we can get other Russians paying upwards of $250 million to live there just because Putin does. This is the guy’s idea.
This is all part now of the special counsel investigation, and this is going to be used to show that Putin and Trump had a budding relationship and that Trump was willing to give away a $50 million apartment to Putin. They’re gonna say that equals an impeachable offense, or worse. When in fact the building never got built. The offer never was made to Putin because the building never got built! For a whole host of reasons the building didn’t get built.
I remember when Trump bought Mar-a-Lago, which was the home that was built by Marjorie Merriweather Post. It’s an amazing place when you realize that this place was a single family dwelling. The square footage is like 70,000 square feet. It’s just unbelievable. And it was in a state of disrepair when Trump bought it many, many years ago for $10 million. And after Trump bought it — now, hang on. I’m going somewhere with this. After Trump bought it, shortly after 60 Minutes did a feature on Trump buying this place.
Marjorie Merriweather Post of Post cereals, she’s the mother of the actress Dina Merrill, she was married to E. F. Hutton. When E. F. Hutton speaks, people listen. E. F. Hutton was the founder of Seminole Golf Club, which is Augusta south. It’s right up the road from here. This place was and is magnificent. But 60 Minutes did a story with Trump and Ivana, his ex-wife, they’re walking the grounds of the estate, and 60 Minutes, “Why are you buying this? There’s more room here than the whole state of Florida. Why are you buying this? This is outrageous.” It was only $10 million. Trump says, “It’s an investment I couldn’t pass up.”
But the upkeep of the place and the property taxes just became a huge nut. So Trump sought permission to turn the thing into a private club, and he would keep a certain number of bedrooms in the house for his personal use and his family’s use. He hoisted a gigantic American flag over Mar-a-Lago, and the town council of Palm Beach went bananas, calling it an eyesore. It was too big. They said it made the place look like a car dealership. It’s the kind of flag you see at a car dealership. But it got the attention that Trump wanted.
He eventually prevailed, and that flag flew, and it still does. He eventually got permission to turn it into a private club. I’m really compressing the story here for the purpose. After he got permission to turn it into a private club, one of the reasons he did, he said the existing private clubs on Palm Beach are so exclusive that real people can’t get into ’em. And he wanted a club for real people, so it’s got membership from all over the place.
But shortly after he announced that he was opening it as a club, he announced his original roster of members. And the price to join back then was I think $200,000 or $250,000. And I’m talking about over ten years ago now, way longer than that. And one of the first people that Donald Trump announced is a member of Mar-a-Lago was Prince Charles. Prince Charles wasn’t a member. And if he was, he didn’t pay anything. This is the point.
So the idea that you’re gonna build a building in Moscow and maybe giving the penthouse to Vladimir Putin is how the Trump Organization did business, in order to build up the value of whatever property. I mean, it was Prince Charles, Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Elton John, all these names were mentioned as original members at Mar-a-Lago. It was just part of the marketing technique.
There’s not a one of these people going after Trump who could do what he has done. They couldn’t even be president as effective as he has been. Not a one of them could start from scratch and earn what Trump has or build what Trump has. And they know it.
And so they construct other ways to make him seem like an inferior and a neophyte, the way he tweets, the way he speaks, the way he doesn’t read, versus them. All these super educated, brilliant Ivy League graduates, impeccable taste and sophistication. Guys like Trump are not supposed to happen in Washington. Outside Washington, fine. That’s fine. But don’t bring it inside the Beltway, ’cause people like this are not supposed to be able to succeed here, and Trump has, and they are livid about it.
