RUSH: Here’s Carlos, Port St. Lucie in Florida. Great to have you, sir. Hi.
CALLER: Hey, Rush. It’s a pleasure, and I apologize if my phone sounds crappy. I got an iPhone 5. Sorry about that. I’m a minority who was a Democrat up in New York. I moved to Florida and became a Republican, I guess ’cause a lot of the Cubans and Venezuelan people convinced me the right way over here. Hispanics here convinced me. This reminds me when I was in New York of the Tawana Brawley situation where she put her hand on the Bible and swore to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, and indicated that seven police officers raped her and put excrement on her face. I think one of the police officers even committed suicide and lost his wife and his house. I mean, it destroyed a lot of lives up there. And this reminds me of that. What is your opinion?
RUSH: Well, it’s a good reminder. Tawana Brawley was one of the first hoaxes run by Al Sharpton on which he was caught. He’s run many hoaxes prior to that. This one, he got caught totally. Totally exposed as fraudulent. Tawana Brawley was not raped. She was being hidden by the Reverend Sharpton. But you’ve got the story right. Raped by of cops. Supposedly they rubbed excrement all over her, deeply humiliating experience and so forth.
He was totally taken aback! I mean, totally. He stopped dead in his tracks. “What do you mean? What…?” I said, “Tawana Brawley. How do you have any credibility within the black community? I don’t understand it.” Well, all hell broke loose, and ever since then, Reverend Sharpton has not liked me so much. But you’re exactly right. (interruption) Now, okay. Grassley is leaving the room at the moment here. So all I can do is react to pictures that we have on TV. I appreciate the call, Carlos.
