RUSH: Now, I realize that all of you tune in to this program each and every day to hear what I have to say. I have yet to hear a complaint in 29 years. “Rush, you don’t have enough guests. Rush, you don’t take enough calls.” I have never heard that. In fact, just the opposite. I’ve heard, “Why are you wasting time with a guest when you can say it better?” And I understand the sentiment. But there are exceptions to those days, and today is gonna be one of them, because the sound bite roster today is filled with great things.
Trey Gowdy was on fire today interrogating the inspector general, Horowitz, about his report regarding the FBI and its collusion with the Hillary campaign to exonerate her in the email investigation that they were going at in a half-baked way. It wasn’t that he tore Horowitz apart, but he did. It was that he laid bare better than the report does exactly how slimy the thing is when it finds no bias on the part of the investigators.
And again, we are smack-dab in the middle of yet another manufactured media crisis about the supposed Donald Trump policy that purposely, wantonly separates young families who are simply seeking a better life by crossing the border of the United States illegally. Remember, it used to be Stormy Daniels. The Drive-Bys were totally devoted to a porn star. They were converting a porn star into a credible spokeswoman against Donald Trump. By the way, do you know where her next gig is?
Are you ready? If you’ve read this, let me… It’s in East Cape Girardeau, Illinois. It’s right across the relatively brand-new bridge from Cape Girardeau to Illinois. My friends, there’s nothing there. It’s a riverbank. It used to have a couple of nightclubs run by the Chicago mob where you went over to play bingo. It was legalized gambling, and your parents took you there when you were 16 and 21. It was the Purple Crackle Club, and there was The Colony, and they were down the road from each other. They’re long gone no, and I don’t have any…
I’m not surprised there’s a bunch of strip clubs there, but they can’t be any bigger than sheds on your average farm. There literally is nothing there, and that’s all Stormy Daniels…? And where is that mouth-trap lawyer of hers, Avenatti? Which is my point? Done and been there, used up, spit out, and moved on. (interruption) Avenatti’s now gonna fight for the…? See, because Avenatti’s watching what’s going on here and realizing he’s not part of the action.
So, what, is Stormy…? Was she separated from a child at a porn gig somewhere and Avenatti’s gonna sponsor her here? How’s he plan on inserting himself into this? The media will happily welcome him back. He loves going on TV. CNN loves to put him on TV. And remember before that it was David “Camera” Hogg and the students at the school in Florida, and they occupied a crisis involving guns. For how many weeks did that go on? At various stages, it has been the Russian Trump collusion story.
It’s just one manufactured crisis after another. That’s why, by the way — this is the precise reason — I have named them “the Drive-By Media.” They show up; they blow up at something under the guise of reporting news on it. They make an absolute mess out of everything and then leave it for other people (like us) to clean up. And then they’re on down the road repeating the process. And when I say “manufactured crisis,” I mean they’re literally manufacturing a crisis here out of something that has been going on for years.
We went through all of this yesterday. There is even more to say about it today. But, you know, folks, I’m gonna be honest with you about something: I’m getting worn out on it. I’m getting worn out on having to deal with these people determining the premise every week and determining what is news, because all that happens is everybody ends up on the defensive. They lost! They’re the losers in the last election. Their voters and their side represents a minority of thinking, and yet they get away with going on offense with this never-ending accusatory journalism against us, Trump, what have you.
Thank God for Donald Trump not backing down at all.
In fact, he’s doubling down on all of this. So I am obligated to spend some time on it because there are new things that have happened since we were last together yesterday, and they have to be nuked, and they have to be dealt with. But, you know, I’m resentful of just the formula for this — and that’s exactly what it is. It is a formula, and one of the reasons that this exists is to take the IG report off the table, to provide mechanisms whereby they don’t have to report on the great and robust economic news or anything else positive regarding the Trump administration.
So I resent… I’m not so stupid that I don’t know what they’re doing, and yet here I get sucked into it because they make it necessary. They have to be refuted. They have to be fought back against. You just can’t sit here… I can’t sit here and leave it up to chance that the American people are gonna figure this out and see it, because they’re being bombarded. Do you know what? The statistics on this are stunning. Our old buddy Brent Bozell and his Newsbuster gang.
The networks combined 176 minutes of “separated kids” coverage so far. Outraged anchors and correspondents – ABC, CBS, NBC — are attacking Trump for separating children from parents at the border. Monday morning shows were overwhelmed with this stuff. Ninety-four minutes of coverage on the detainment policy. It’s like 90% of Trump’s coverage is negative, ongoing, and 176 minutes of separated kids coverage in pretty much that same length of time.
Ninety percent of what they’re covering is this, and this is how it works. This is the so-called manufactured crisis, and it has to be dealt with. So all I can do is remind you what you’re looking at here. A month ago, CNN was Stormy Daniels 24/7. Michael Avenatti on television over 150 times. Now Stormy’s got a gig in East Cape Girardeau, Illinois. I mean, it literally is a backwater. I didn’t even know that there’s anything over there right now, a porn place or strip club. I had no idea there was even a place over there.
So this is where we are. Plus the IG report — as I say, Trey Gowdy on fire.
So what I want to do, I want to start with Kirstjen Nielsen and her appearance at the White House press briefing late yesterday afternoon. You know what happened at this briefing? There is a recording going around that an actual White House correspondent played while Nielsen was answering questions, audio of screaming babies ostensibly at the border.
“Mommy, Mommy! Daddy, Daddy!” right while she was speaking. They are not interested in the truth. They’re not interested in the past. They’re not interested in what’s really going on. They’re not interested in facts whatsoever. Kirstjen Nielsen was on fire. I thought she was tremendous yesterday, but then you look at the Drive-By Media coverage afterward, they hated it.
They predicted she’s not long for the administration — and after that heartless, cold-hearted performance, Trump’s gonna have no choice but to fire her. The disconnect continues to expand and widen in this country. Let’s start with three sound bites. Let’s see. Yep. No, actually four sound bites. Kirstjen Nielsen, daily press briefing. They delayed it ’til late in the afternoon so she could get there. I think she was in New Orleans earlier in the day. Here’s sound bite No. 1.
NIELSEN: Until these loopholes are closed by Congress, it is not possible, as a matter of law, to detain and remove whole family units who arrive illegally in the United States. Congress and the courts created this problem, and Congress alone can fix it. Until then, we will enforce every law we have on the books to defend the sovereignty and security of the United States.
RUSH: Bam! Fact! That’s what’s going on. That’s what has not been happening for many, many years, and that’s why people are outraged because the laws on the books have been ignored. They have not been enforced, and so people — your average, ordinary low-information voter — doesn’t even know what the law is. We went through this in great detail yesterday, and I’m not gonna bother explaining it to you again, why the families, why the people are separated.
But it is a matter of law. If asylum happens to be one of the options chosen by the adult, then there is no way the families can be kept together. But the root of all of this, the reason all this is happening is because these people are attempting to get into the country illegally! Now, that may sound cold hearted. It may sound hard-hearted. But it isn’t! If you want to end the problem, if that’s really what the objective is — and it isn’t, by the way.
All of these people wringing their hands and crying about separated families, they don’t care about that. That’s not what this is about. Because if it were, there’s a simple way to stop it: Stop trying to get into the country illegally, knowingly. How about this? I talked about it yesterday. All of these unaccompanied minors who get on trains or are brought in the back of trucks, they leave their parents. I should better say, their parents force them out of the house in Guatemala, El Salvador, wherever.
They put ’em on the trains, put ’em on the buses, put ’em on the trucks, and send them unaccompanied to the United States, on a journey where they could be severely injured or killed. Nobody’s separating these people in the United States. Their own parents are separating themselves from their kids when they put ’em on this train, when they put ’em in the flatbed, when they put ’em on the buses or the mule backs or whatever else they’re using to get ’em in. It’s just plain and simple.
And if your heart is breaking, and if it’s gut-wrenching at this whole idea of separating families, then what you must support is the denial of entry, illegally, into the country and deportation. That’s the solution to the problem. Don’t come! Don’t show up and try to get into the country illegally right now, because the president, his administration have made it plain they’re gonna enforce the law. Much as the people that wrote the law resent that — and they do. As much as the left resents it — and they do — that’s what the Trump administration is going to do.
This is why Donald Trump got elected, and he’s the first president in I don’t know how long actually enforcing the law. That’s what has everybody so shocked. They haven’t known what the law is. Now they’re learning what it is. Maybe they’re not. Maybe they’re just reacting emotionally to the news stories. But if you really want to do the humane thing, you stop them from coming. You tell them not to come — and when they arrive, you turn ’em away. It is the arrivals taking the action that results in the consequences that are happening to them.
It is not the United States is evil. Quite the contrary! We are housing and protecting them. We already have families in Guatemala, El Salvador, sending their kids to us to take care of them. They are already separating and sending their kids to us to take care of them, and we do! You know, the law can be a b-i-itch when it’s followed. Here’s more from Kirstjen Nielsen, as she was on fire. Jeff Zeleny of CNN — who is snarky as he could be. I watched this thing yesterday. (impression) “How is this not child abuse, huh? Huh? How is this not child abuse?”
NIELSEN: The vast majority, vast, vast majority of children who are in the care of HHS now — 10,000 of the 12,000 — were sent here alone by their parents. That’s when they were separated. Ten thousand of those currently in custody were sent by their parents with strangers to undertake a completely dangerous and deadly travel alone. We now care for them. We have high standards. We give them meals. We give them education. We give them medical care. There is videos. There’s TVs. I visited the detention centers myself. That would be my answer.
RUSH: What’s the problem with that? Anybody have a problem with that? “How is this not child abuse? How is…?” Child abuse? Child abuse! You really want to talk about child abuse? There’s no child abuse going on here, other than these families in these supposed war-torn areas of Central America separating their own families and sending their kids unaccompanied on a journey all the way through Mexico to get to the United States.
Everybody knows why. They get here, and they are protected and taken care of. Nobody separated anybody in the case of 10,000 these kids. They arrived alone, and we all know why. It’s so that after they’re here and processed, somebody will come along and say (sobbing), “We can’t keep their parents out. It’s inhumane. We’ve gotta let their parents in.” This whole thing is about flooding this country with poor, uneducated, ill-educated people because both political parties have designs on their futures.
BREAK TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: Ladies and gentlemen, the Democrat Party and the Drive-By Media, they’re not upset at families being separated. That’s not what bothers them about this. What bothers them about this is that the law is being on enforced. If you want to get down to brass tacks, if you want to drill down to what’s really bothering these, it’s not that families are being separated, because that’s actually being done by the families themselves before the kids leave or when they arrive together illegally.
What the Democrats are upset about is that Donald Trump is enforcing the law. What Donald Trump is doing is causing the Democrats to once again expose themselves for who they are. And they’re trying to mask who they are by turning this into some sort of battle on who has the biggest compassionate heart. It’s not actual what this is. The Democrats want open borders. They want to transform the culture and the face of the United States.
Donald Trump is stopping it. And so to mischaracterize what Trump is doing, they accuse him of child abuse, separation of families and so forth. Here’s another sound bite from Nielsen. Question from the NBC White House correspondent Kristen Welker: “This is something that was enacted after the attorney general announced his zero-tolerance policy. This has never happened before.”
WELKER: (talking over)
NIELSEN: The last administration, the Obama administration, the Bush administration all separated families.
WELKER: (unintelligible talking)
NIELSEN: They absolutely did. They did. Their rate was less than ours, but they absolutely did do this. This is not new.
RUSH: So here you have a totally uninformed media infobabe in the White House press corps for NBC, Kristen Welker. “This is brand-new. This has never happened before. This is all because zero tolerance announced by Sessions!” Did you know, folks, that under the Obama administration, the number of kids separated and held and detained is twice the number that is happening now in the Trump administration? And of course the answer is, “Well, we can’t look back. We need to look forward.”
BREAK TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: Here’s the backup. I can’t just sit here and say the Obama administration held more than twice the number of kids in shelters compared to the Trump White House. You need the backup. We’ll link to it at RushLimbaugh.com. It’s in Newsweek, which is a leftist... I don’t even know what it is anymore. But I’m gonna accept it ’cause it’s got the fact here. It’s from May 30th. So this is about three weeks ago.
“The number of undocumented children being held without their parents in U.S. government custody has seen a 21% increase in the past month after the Trump administration announced its ‘zero tolerance’ crackdown … In fiscal year 2013, under the Barack Obama administration, the HHS Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) had as many as 25,000 unaccompanied children in its care across 80 shelters, according to a July 2014 article in [the leftist] Mother Jones.”
Now, back then, they were happy about this. This was an Obama policy. Obama was doing wonderous things. Obama was letting unaccompanied minors in through this loophole. If you come from a country not contiguous to America — so it can’t be Mexico. If you come from anything south of Mexico and you get here claim amnesty, we can’t send you back. That loophole exists. Obama exploited it and applied it to children.
There were 25,000 unaccompanied kids in detainment centers and shelters all across the country. We’re talk about 10,000 today. It’s 10,000 today, 25,000 in 2014 during the Obama administration. You throw that out there, and the left will say, “Well… (stammering) We can’t we can’t look at the past. We need to look forward.” Of course, when it comes to human rights violations, all you can do is look at the past, right? So they massage and manipulate everything to what they think to be their advantage.
In the meantime, we’re not even dealing with news here and we’re not even dealing with facts. We find ourselves once again on the butt end of the leftist agenda being advanced under so-called news reporting. I, for one, am getting tired of it. I don’t know how to stop it. I don’t know what to do about it. But it’s dishonest; it’s misleading; it’s nothing but politics. But they get away with having it appear to be news reporting or compassionate activism.
They obliterate and blow up the entire factual meaning of every relevant aspect of a story like this. The president has, as I say, doubled down on this. Today he “restated his support for his administration’s policy of separating migrant families at the U.S. border, calling Democrats ‘the problem.'” Now, this is another thing. Outside of an occasional senator like Tom Cotton, you don’t have Republicans speaking out like this. We not used to it. Previous Republican presidents have been all-in on amnesty, for example.
They have been with the Democrats on issues like this. “‘We must always arrest people coming into our Country illegally. Of the 12,000 children, 10,000 are being sent by their parents on a very dangerous trip, and only 2000 are with their parents, many of whom have tried to enter our Country illegally on numerous occasions,’ he wrote on Twitter. ‘Democrats are the problem. They don’t care about crime and want illegal immigrants, no matter how bad they may be, to pour into and infest our Country, like MS-13.
“‘They can’t win on their terrible policies, so they view them as potential voters!’ he continued in another tweet.” Now, granted, you have all heard this for years out of my mouth. But isn’t it great to finally have the ranking Republican in the country pushing back the same way? This, we are not accustomed to. But once again, Trump is triumphing in every which way you can imagine. Here’s the tweet: “We must always arrest people coming into our country illegally.”
(sigh) That, when you boil this down to its essence, is why any of this is happening. There are people knowingly separating their own families, sending kids unaccompanied — or maybe with bad guys — on a long journey all the way through Mexico where there is great risk and danger and sometimes death to get to the United States knowing that they’re gonna accepted because that’s what always happened until now. Now they’re not being accepted. Now they’re being turned away.
There are consequences to breaking the law — and for the first time the law is being enforced, first time in a long time. So the solution is don’t come. Don’t try to get into the country illegally. But, man, you say that and they turn around and accuse you of having no heart and maybe not even having any soul. They claim that you don’t care. And you know what the latest excuse going around is? I have a sound bite on this coming up. Do you know what the latest excuse for this is?
Conservatives are desperate and are doing everything and anything they can do to make sure this country stays white. That is the allegation — it was on CNN International — involving me. It’s been in the news media here in this country involving Ann Coulter and Laura Ingraham. And this is the attack. It’s the race card, as they always play. So our desire for the immigration law to be enforced, why, that’s just us with the last dying gasp to make sure America stays white.
There can’t be anything more offensive than that, because of course that has nothing to do with why those of us who think and feel the way we do think and feel the way we do. It’s about saving America from this invasion, from this infestation. It’s not about race. It’s about culture. It’s not about skin color or any of that. It’s about ideology. It’s about defending America from an ongoing assault from inside and from outside by people who want to destroy the capitalist foundation and roots of this country, and they never stop.
Their attacks occur on many different fronts at many different times. And at each occasion, the attack occurs and it appears as a news story, like this one is. And the news story is that Republicans and Trump are separating families because they don’t care about the kids. Then we get the support stories, the videos of crying kids that can’t be proven to be relevant to the story. Doesn’t matter! We end up with a battle of images, and pretty soon every descends into hysteria. So the politics of hysteria ends up determining what people think, and all of it is done on purpose.
One more Kirstjen Nielsen bite from her briefing at the White House yesterday. A reporter asks Nielsen about children being separated from people who come here illegally.
REPORTER: (shouting) Are you intending for this to play out as it is playing out? Are you intending for parents to be separated in their children? Are you intending to send a message?
NIELSEN: I find that offensive. No.
REPORTER: Why?
NIELSEN: Because why would I ever create a policy that purposely does that?
REPORTER: Perhaps it’s a deterrence.
NIELSEN: No! It’s a law passed by the United States Congress. Rather than fixing the law, Congress is asking those of us who enforce the law to turn our backs on the law and not enforce the law. It’s not an answer.
REPORTER: (shouting)
NIELSEN: The answer is fix the law.
RUSH: You can’t have anything more plainly stated, more factually correct and accurate. But, of course, the reporter here is not interested in factually accurate or truth or any of that. He is there for the express purpose of defaming her and embarrassing her and mischaracterizing what’s going on. The Trump administration has no policy here, folks. This is another little semantic game that’s being played. (impression) “The Trump administration is enforcing a new zero-tolerance policy.” There’s no policy. There is the law!
I find it fascinating that the left doesn’t care that Strzok and Page broke the law. They don’t find any lawbreaking in the investigation of Trump. They don’t find any lawbreaking here in the immigration problem problematic whatsoever. It’s enforcing the law that is upsetting these people. And it’s actually driving them mad. Hence the question: “Are you intending to play tout as it is? Are you intending for parents to be separated? Are you intending to send a message?”
There is no policy. But they are attempting to make people believe that Trump and whoever came up with a policy to separate families. It is the law, and she made this point over and over again, and their job is to enforce it — and if you don’t like that, change it. But Congress doesn’t want to change the law. Most of Congress is in favor of amnesty and some degree of open borders.
BREAK TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: Kirstjen Nielsen pointed out yesterday (paraphrased), “You don’t like it? You’ve gotta change it. We cannot break the law by refusing to enforce it.” So Trump is enforcing the law because — as Abraham Lincoln said, folks — the fastest way to get rid of a bad law is to enforce it. And that is exactly what is happening. I thought Kirstjen Nielsen was great yesterday. I thought that she was… Well, I’m just gonna use the vernacular, “She was a bad ass.”
She stood up to those people yesterday and didn’t take anything. She was not flustered one time. They didn’t draw her out of her game. They didn’t destroy her composure. They baited her. They did everything they could to make her succumb to their emotional demands, and she refused. And in the process, she kicked the press corps all over the pressroom yesterday, except they don’t know it. They think they were so good that she was humiliated and embarrassed.
And it is time for Trump to get rid of her or for her to resign. But she stood at that podium behind that microphone and she literally called Congress cowardly for refusing to deal with this, refusing to deal with this law and change it. If they don’t like it, it really is the height of hypocrisy for the people that write the laws to sit there and stand there like they’ve had nothing to do with it and start complaining about the laws.
Which is another leftist trick, by the way. Obama got away with it by acting like what was happening he had nothing to do with it. I devised the Limbaugh Theorem to explain it. Obama got to sit there and act like whatever was going on in Washington, he was still battling these powerful forces, and he’s trying to change it, but he’s meeting these invisible forces, and they can’t be overwhelmed. Meanwhile, Obama is actually implementing his agenda while acting like he’s got nothing to do with what’s happening because his agenda was not popular.
So he made it look like it was happening despite his best efforts — and the media, of course, gave him cover.
