Do TV Series Write Outlandish Liberal Storylines to Get Mentioned Here?

by Rush Limbaugh - Apr 9,2018

RUSH: We’ll start in Des Moines in Iowa. This is Dan, and I’m glad you called, sir. Hi.

CALLER: Hi. Thanks, Rush. Mega dittos. First-time caller, Rush Baby here.

RUSH: Thank you, sir.

CALLER: I just want to give you a quick call and say, you know, I’ve heard over the years going way back to The Wire and maybe before, you made comments about shows that you watched, cable shows. And typically when you talk about ’em you talk about the most outlandish scenes and here in the Sessions and Paul Giamatti clip that you’re discussing, it just sounds so over the top that who in the world would even come up with this? Do you think these writers put this out there knowing that 20-some million Rush listeners are gonna hear about it?

RUSH: I have no doubt about that. And that’s why it’s tough for me. I like these shows and I love talking about them. You know I love sharing my passions with people. But, at the same time knowing I’m publicizing some of this rot, yeah, it grates on me. But, if that were the rule, then I would pretty much have to shut up about everything.

You think that they’re fooling me? You think that they’re writing these scenarios and scenes knowing that I’m gonna be upset about it and talk about it, which is then gonna publicize it and give them even more viewers? You think that they’re doing that and I’m unaware of it?

CALLER: Well, I thought that might be your take on it so while I was on hold I was thinking about this, you mentioned Roseanne and how they put Trump in the first Roseanne show.

RUSH: Right.

CALLER: But then immediately they said the writers may not put Trump back in at all, after you broadcast it. So I don’t know.

RUSH: Well, now, wait a minute. I’m not going to, in a false sense of humility, downplay my own power. I’m not gonna do that. That’d be silly. It would be silly for me to try to tell you that I don’t think I’m that influential because of course I am. But on the case of the Roseanne show, those shows are recorded, they’re done, they’re in the can. The whole season’s probably already done. That’s why I can tell you that episode 1 is the only episode mentioning Trump all season ’cause it’s already done. They already know.

CALLER: Very good point. I don’t know. I just feel like —

RUSH: In fact, I don’t know, those shows could have been in the can six months.

CALLER: True.

RUSH: There’s a show on NBC called Blue Shield or something. It’s a Jennifer Lopez piece starring her butt and what’s the actor that was in — oh, what’s his name? Anyway, her butt is the focus of many scenes. It’s a show that NBC airs in the spring. And they’re a year ahead. They were filming two seasons consecutively last May and June. So those shows are in the can a year before they air. I don’t know how long the Roseanne’s show’s been in the can, but it’s been in the can a long time, I mean in terms of months.
