RUSH: A three-judge panel of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals issued a ruling this week about sanctuary cities that could be a game-changer.
The case was prompted by a law passed last May by the Texas Legislature. It required police chiefs and sheriffs to cooperate with federal immigration officials. It allowed cops to question anyone they arrested about their immigration status. In other words, Texas stripped sanctuary cities of their sanctuary.
A lone federal judge in San Antonio temporarily blocked implementation of the law. But on Tuesday, the three appeals-court judges voted unanimously to smack down that decision. Texas can enforce the law while the case is still being challenged in court.
Except for one minor provision: The three-judge panel found the plaintiffs’ argument wasn’t “likely to succeed on the merits” of the constitutional issues raised. That’s a big deal, since this case is likely headed to the Supreme Court. It’s also a big deal because this Texas law is right in line with President Trump’s position on sanctuary cities.
Illegal immigration advocates are vowing to press on. They say they’re looking forward to an appeal of the Texas law.
Well, bring it! The left’s sanctuary nonsense has dragged on far too long. It’s a direct attack on the rule of law and the sooner America is rid of it the better! In fact, you know the Sanctuary City I’d really like to get rid of and blow up? That’s Washington D.C.! That place is a sanctuary city for Democrats and liberals that get away with whatever they want to try — and that’s gotta be brought to screeching halt to boot.
