RUSH: This is Colleen, Fishers, Indiana. Welcome to the program. Great to have you here.
CALLER: Thank you so much. First-time caller in 20 years.
RUSH: It’s wonderful to have you here.
And McCain said, “No, I don’t.” But then he made this comment. “But I thought I was going to be president and I was wrong about that too.” I thought, bam, that’s it right there. He is so ticked off because he did not get elected president, he is going to fight everybody.
RUSH: You may have a point. I have not met Senator McCain. So I only know of Senator McCain the way anybody else who hasn’t met him has, is media consumption and people who have met talk about him. I don’t know if he has any lingering bitterness over losing the presidency. Maybe the fact that Trump did win kind of frosts him a little bit. I can see that.
I actually think, though, Colleen, that what is grating on Senator McCain is candidate Trump suggesting that he has no respect for military people who get captured. He respects military men who evade capture. Of course, McCain was captured. That was a direct hit at McCain. I don’t think McCain will ever get over that.
