RUSH: President Trump in France today accepted the invitation from the new French president, Macaroni. Why do I — it’s Macron. I think macaroni when I see the word, and I know it’s not macaroni. Why did I say that? I wasn’t trying to be — anyway, we knew it was gonna happen. He got a question from the Drive-Bys about Donald Jr. and the honey pot. It was from Cecilia Vega of ABC.

RUSH: Cecilia Vega at ABC said, “Mr. President, your FBI nominee said that if someone in the campaign got an email about Russia like the one your son received that they should alert the FBI rather than accept the meeting. Is he wrong? And also, were you misled by your team in not knowing about this meeting?”
THE PRESIDENT: Nothing happened from the meeting. Zero happened from the meeting, and honestly, I think the press made a very big deal over something that really a lot of people would do. Now, the lawyer that went to the meeting, I see that she was in the halls of Congress also. Somebody said that her visa or her passport to come into the country was approved by Attorney General Lynch.
Now, maybe that’s wrong; I just heard that a while ago, but no surprise here, she was here because of Lynch. So, again, I have a son who’s a great young man, he’s a fine person. He took a meeting with a lawyer from Russia, it lasted for a very short period, and nothing came of the meeting. And I think it’s a meeting that most people in politics probably would have taken.
RUSH: And have taken. And once again I’m forced to mention this, the dossier that formed the basis of the FBI investigation into Trump, this totally fake document was written by the Russians. It was written by the KGB and handed over. Actually what happened was, members of the KGB, now called the FSB — it doesn’t matter; once you’re in the KGB, you’re always in the KGB and the KGB never dies.
Agents in the KGB literally told Christopher Steele at MI6, Fusion GPS, how to write it, what to say. Analysis of it by an expert on Sovietology and Russianism at the Hoover Institution, the campus of Stanford, has concluded way back in January, it’s a KGB document. Anyway, so it starts in Russia and it ends up at the FBI.
Now, isn’t that a crime? What is the FBI doing accepting a document that’s fake and phony from the KGB with a pass-through, MI6, Christopher Steele, and using it to form the basis of an investigation into a Republican presidential candidate? Compare that to Donald Trump Jr. taking a meeting with a honey pot lawyer from the Kremlin on the basis that she wanted to talk about dirt from the Kremlin on Hillary, but she didn’t have any of that, she wanted to talk about adoption.
There isn’t any crime here. In fact, I’m gonna tell you, based on the feedback I’m getting, most Trump supporters are appreciative of the fact that Donald Jr. was trying to get dirt on Hillary. A lot of people think there’s all kinds of dirt on the Clintons to be had and that it should be used! You know, this investigation stuff is a one-way street! They don’t have a single thing on Donald Trump and collusion. And they don’t have a single thing yet on Donald Trump obstruction.
And yet with Hillary, all of those things are likely, with her foundation, with her email server, trafficking in classified data. And she was investigated and exonerated because they couldn’t find any intent. And now we find out the honey pot was allowed to come into the country and overstay her visa by six months. I’m just telling you, the way this is shaping up for a lot of people is they think Donald Trump Jr. is right on the money to accept dirt on Hillary.
What are political campaigns about? And there is no statutory crime. There’s no way Donald Trump’s gonna be impeached over this.

RUSH: I’m just telling you that there are a lot of people that don’t think Donald Trump Jr. did anything but they would have done. “You got dirt on Hillary? Give it to me.” I’m just telling you, Trump is not going to be impeached over this. He can’t be. What everybody wants to happen is Trump to be paralyzed by this. I mean, I know Brad Sherman introduced articles of impeachment, but it doesn’t have a prayer. Impeachment, by the way, is not a criminal thing.
Trump is not guilty of violating any statutes. I’m not saying that’s not impeachable, but that’s such a long shot. Standard, ordinary, everyday impeachment is a political act. That’s why high crimes and misdemeanors are stated and not straight felonies, statutory crimes and felonies, ’cause they’re two different things.
We’re talking about statutory felony, criminal law, and political. And impeachment’s always an act of politics. And if the public will is not there for it, it’s not gonna go anywhere no matter what the president’s guilty of, look at Bill Clinton, just never gonna happen. And Trump is not gonna be impeached over this. They’re gonna try to paralyze him. They’re gonna try to stop him dead in his tracks from getting anything done. And they’re failing at even that.
Let’s see. Here’s the next Trump bite. The next question was from a French reporter. “Mr. President, you mentioned a friend, Jim, who told you that Paris is no longer Paris. You were implying at the time that Paris was not safe. You also said that France and Germany were infected by terrorism and it’s their fault because they let people enter the territory. Those are very strong words, Mr. President. Would you repeat them today? And do you still believe that France is not able to fight terrorism on its own territory?”
THE PRESIDENT: You better let me answer that one first. That’s a beauty. He’s the one that asked the question. That he wasn’t even one of my picks. You know what? It’s gonna be just fine because you have a great president. You have somebody that’s gonna run this country right, and I would be willing to bet, because I think this is one of the great cities, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. And you have a great leader now, you have a great president, you have a tough president. He’s not gonna be easy on people that are breaking the laws and people that show this tremendous violence. So I really have a feeling that you’re gonna have a very, very peaceful and beautiful Paris. And I’m coming back. You better do a good job, please, otherwise you’re gonna make me look very bad.
RUSH: Trump had turned to the kid running France and said: You better do a good job now after I praise you to hilt, otherwise you gonna make me look very bad. Now, the media will think that Trump had just threatened the president of France because they can’t sense humor in anything. “Did you see Trump? He threatened the little president! He told him better do a good job or Trump’s gonna look bad!” Trump was just using standard, ordinary, everyday guy humor. That escapes people on the left.

RUSH: Here’s Larry in San Antonio. I’m glad you waited, sir. Great to have you.
CALLER: Hello, Rush. (chuckles) Great show.
RUSH: Thank you, sir.
CALLER: I just wanted to tell you how fantastic, in my opinion, your discourse on the left and Western civilization was from last week. It was the best summation of our culture and our history, and the pernicious growth of Marxism, socialism, misinformation from its advent up to where you share with us daily that I’ve ever heard. So thank you.
RUSH: Well, I appreciate that. I mean, really, more than you know. I really do.
CALLER: Well, you’re truly one of God’s gifts to 75% of the country.
RUSH: Well, as I say, “talent on loan from God.”
CALLER: Oh, yes. You are.
RUSH: That’s why I say that.
CALLER: It’s definitely on loan. (chuckles)
RUSH: Well, you know, I actually… It’s like I said last week, this was all bouncing off of Trump’s speech in Poland about Western civilization, Western culture. Folks, in my mind there is nothing superior. That’s the whole point! There’s never been a greater place for human beings to be on earth than the United States of America, in the history of the planet. Never, ever. That’s why everybody has always wanted to come here since our country was founded. I don’t think it’s arguable, and that sets up the exact challenge that we face.
We have more and more Americans after decades of education who believe the United States is the worst place on the planet; that it is the focus of evil, that it’s the home of racism and bigotry and homophobia and anti-LGBT and all this. And it’s despicable! And this stuff is being promulgated by people who for some perverted reason fear the greatness of this country and fear what created it: Liberty and freedom and the acknowledgment that we’re all created equal by God, and that one of our purposes as human beings is the pursuit of life and happiness.
The idea that this is somehow “controversial” has always offended me. I understand that not everybody’s gonna be uniform on everything. But it’s just offended my sensibilities that there are people born and raised in this country who somehow are able to intellectually believe a bunch of invective against this country, that somehow it’s a hellhole, that it’s a prison, that it’s — as I say — the focus of evil in the world. Trump was talking about in a very triumphant way about the beauties of Western civilization, and I thought it was a great speech.
And it was not long after that that another hit piece on Trump came down the pike. I’ve found that every time Trump has a good moment — be it advancing his agenda or a great speech — it isn’t long before in the media something pops up that is of a controversial nature that is designed to cover and overwhelm the good story that is, in this case, the Trump speech on Western civilization. And it’s under assault constantly, and I really think the culture… You know, we all have these things that are our pet peeves. We have politics. We have like sports. It’s like any number of other things.
I think the bedrock culture — not just political, but the overall bedrock culture, the collective mentality on morality, decency, manners, right and wrong — that’s what’s been under assault. And I believe like so many others who have written that it is actually an assault by people who don’t consider themselves “normal” against what is considered normal because they feel discriminated against by it. And it’s been an ongoing effort to redefine normalcy to include all kinds of things that for the longest time were considered bad, ill-mannered, immoral, what have you.
It’s a quest to water down and essentially erase some of the fundamental foundations of those values that created the greatest country and the greatest place for human beings to live ever in the history of Planet Earth. And it just offends me. And I’ve long believed that the cultural… You call it multiculturalism. You can call it where it happens in school where the multiculturalists attempt to inculcate young minds with the evils of America. But I don’t think it’s just simple enough to say that “politics” is our problem. I think the corruption of the pop culture…
I understand younger generations are always gonna be outside the bounds and exploring things, doing things. I’m not talking about that. I’m not talking about The Beatles with their long hair and those kinds of cultural changes. I’m talking about assaults on common definitions… Like, I think the redefinition of “marriage” is an absolute assault on the culture. It’s not a gay right, and there’s nothing discriminatory in marriage. Marriage has a specific definition. Marriage is the result of thousands of years of human beings living and discovering the best ways to accomplish things. Such as raising children, such as perpetuating a society, such as maintaining the primacy of a country and a society.
And it’s those things that are under assault. To say that marriage… To come along and say marriage is an ultimate act of discrimination is absurd! It was never intended as an act of discrimination. Nobody is required to get married! But once socialism came along and there became benefits attached to it? Well, then we have some people discriminated against! If you can only get certain financial benefits or other things like hospital visitation rights if you’re family — and if certain people cannot be qualified family ’cause they can’t get married — then they start screaming discrimination.
So the mixture of socialism, socialism-communist values into a society is gonna ultimately rip it to shreds and tear it apart. Saying that marriage is a discriminatory act or way of life? Come on. That’s just absurd, and it ultimately leads to the attempt to persuade people that Christianity itself is discriminatory. The Catholic Church is discriminatory. And it creates victim after victim after victim. Once there are victims, their grievances have to be addressed because they just do. It’s not fair. It’s not right. And the assault continues. And it’s just always offended my sensibilities. Any time somebody stands up for Western civilization, I’m gonna remark on it and champion it.
