RUSH: The media’s also a bit abuzz because Trump’s out there saying that Susan Rice may have committed crimes. Now, what’s fascinating about this to me is that Trump generally ends up being proven right with all these things. No matter how outrageous they sound at the time, after a certain passage of time, it ends up that Trump is much more right than he was ever wrong. Sweden is a great recent example of that. Claiming that Obama “tapped his wires” at Trump Tower. The Obama administration says, “It’s absurd! It’s ridiculous! Trump’s insane! This is lunacy!”
And now we’ve learned everything. We learned that Susan Rice was unmasking and requesting and that there was surveillance of Trump people, be it incidentally or direct. Trump was right. In the overall generic sense, he and his team were being spied on by the Obama administration! Just as the Regime spied on Merkel and just as they spied on Israel, and just as they helped the opponent of Netanyahu and his campaign against Netanyahu. So we’re not being asked to accept something that hasn’t happened before. The fact that the Obama administration spied on people was everyday commonality.
So Trump saying that she may have committed a crime? That crosses a line. Nobody heretofore had leveled that as an allegation. It was rumored. It was whispered. But when Trump comes out, that’s like three megaphones, when he says she may have committed crimes. Of course, that leads now into potential grand jury testimony, congressional investigation testimony. And if this woman has lied under oath on previous occasions and is exposed, now we’re talking criminality. It doesn’t have to be that she was behaving criminally in her role at the National Security Council.
It could be… I mean, if you committed a crime, you’ve committed a crime. And Trump’s now on the warpath. This is something the Democrats, I’m telling you, are still not accustomed to. They’re not used to… This is not merely fighting back. This is throwing hand grenades back at them. That was a hand grenade that Trump launched when he accused Obama of “tapping his wires” at Trump Tower. I mean, these guys in the media don’t want to admit it. That totally changed this story. The first thing that happened when Trump lobbed that grenade is they denied that there was even an investigation.
In their ongoing effort to make Trump look insane. “What do you mean, Trump? (snorts) We don’t care that much about you. There’s no investigation.” “Really? What’s all that stuff that’s been in the New York Times and CNN for the past two months, then? What are all these leaks from the intelligence community? Where’d that stuff come from, if I’m not being surveilled? If I’m not being wiretapped or whatever, then how does all that stuff end up in the New York Times?” So that kind of reversal of inertia is something they just… They are not accustomed to Republicans fighting back in that way at all.
