Even before President Trump announced his Supreme Court pick the Democrats went to the mattresses. For the second time in modern history, they declared they will filibuster a Supreme Court nominee before they even knew who it was.

Senator Jeff Merkley Democrat, Oregon, claimed the seat actually belonged to Obama’s failed nominee, Merrick Garland. He said, “This is a stolen seat. This is the first time a Senate majority has stolen a seat. We will use every lever in our power to stop this.”

Well, what levers do they have? They’ve got the power of tantrums. The power of hysteria. And that’s it.

Organized liberal groups have already said they’re gonna spend millions of dollars smearing Trump’s nominee. Ignore them. You can expect them to claim that the nominee is out of the mainstream, that he’s an extremist, he’s opposed to women’s rights, all this stuff. Just ignore it, folks. In fact, better, laugh at them.

For a change the Republicans hold all the cards, including the so-called nuclear option. When Democrats insist on filibustering the nominee, Republicans can use the Democrat playbook against them: Go nuclear. Change the rules. Kill the filibuster. Harry Reid and the Democrats did it to Republicans to pack the judiciary with Obama’s judges. It’s time to turn the tables.

Of course, Democrats will come down with amnesia about their earlier tactics and the Drive-By Media will side with Democrats. But, the only power the Democrats have is if Republicans cave. And Trump won’t.
