RUSH: The views expressed by the host on this program are documented to be almost always right 99.8% of the time. Great to have you here with us, my friends, as we head on down the road to the EIB Network and the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies. It’s great to be here. Just a little housekeeping here to acknowledge what has found its way into the mainstream media today. We announced early this morning that I have decided to keep doing this for four more years, and I want to be honest with you about it. I’m always honest. I want to tell you something. I have, in the past six months, really been going back and forth on whether or not I wanted to keep doing this or move on to something else — or nothing.
And it went back and forth in a whole bunch of different ways with a bunch of different input and a lot of soul-searching. It’s been 28 years — we’re starting our 29th now — and I don’t do this for any reason other than I love it. One thing that was not a factor in my decision was, “What else is there?” I never said to myself, “Okay, there’s nothing left you have to prove. There’s nothing left you have to accomplish.” That was not part of my thinking.
As I told you yesterday, I still don’t think I’ve done a perfect program. As I told you yesterday, I walk out of here after the end of many programs troubled to one degree or another that it could have been better. I figured, if I still think that, if I still feel that way, then that was in the column to keep going. But it eventually came down to being honest with myself about what I love and the great, good fortune I’ve had to be able to do what I love at a high degree of success.
And I don’t feel old, I don’t feel worn out, I don’t… None of that. So I decided to keep doing it, because there’s nothing I love more, and there’s nothing that could replace it — even being on TV occasionally, which would not be a replacement or anything of the sort. So four more years is what it is. The release didn’t specify that, because I told everybody involved, “I don’t want any terms announced.” I have never, by the way, released that kind of information about my arrangement here.
Those numbers have always come from other people. My parents, my dad always told me, “You never talk about it, Son.” It was a sign of bad manners, class, and no class. And I’ve never forgotten it. It’s kind of a joke for people to throw out numbers anyway ’cause I don’t earn a salary. This is another thing, by the way, that keeps this fresh and young. I have to perform every quarter, every six months, every year. There’s no salary involved here.
So throwing out numbers is kind of misleading in the first place. But I just wanted to confirm what everybody had seen in the media, even though it doesn’t need to be confirmed because it’s official; I’m quoted there. I really want to be here, folks, if the Russians find Hillary’s emails. When it comes down to it, that’s why I rolled the dice and hung in. Can you imagine if that day ever comes?
