CALLER: Thanks, Rush! It’s a pleasure to speak with you.
RUSH: Thank you.
CALLER: Thank you so much.
RUSH: You bet.
RUSH: Don’t worry. He doesn’t care about it.
CALLER: When it comes to abortion rights, I think he ought to say, “We’re gonna focus on late-term abortions,” and when it comes to the free college, I think his answer ought to be, “You know what? It makes great sense when it comes to spending for science and technology, because that’s what our nation needs,” and that’s what his presidency should be all about: What our nation needs. Make us great again.
RUSH: Well, why do you…?
CALLER: So, I think he should —
RUSH: The Democrats do all that. Why do you want the Republican convention to do that? I mean, you may as well watch the Democrat convention if that’s what you want to hear.
CALLER: (silence)
RUSH: Did she vamanos? Did she go out?
CALLER: The body of people, we’re so diverse. We don’t all agree on what the narrative’s been, and the narrative has been an absolute loser. It’s not gonna change. The results will be the same thing if he doesn’t change, and I think he ought to speak to more than conservatives.
We’re losing elections because we don’t oppose the Democrats. We’re losing elections because we do not have the courage to stand up for what we actually believe in. We’re a totally defensive party, and I hate to say it, but your recipe is not proactive. It’s not aggressive at all. But gay marriage? Trump doesn’t care. He’s not gonna talk about it. He’s got 73% support of the evangelicals right now. He wants to grow that. But he’s not…
The Republican Party is not gonna cave on abortion and if Republican Party starts giving away college tuition, they may as well just disband. I mean, that’s… Hillary’s gonna do that. Hillary’s already making plans! She’s already setting the table for forgiving student loan debt. Anyway, I understand your sentiment. You’re not alone. There’s a lot of moderate Republicans who think that. Those are not why we’re losing. Anyway, I appreciate the call. I really do.
