Will There Be an Animated Rush Revere?

RUSH: Here’s James in Des Moines. James, great to have you. Welcome to the EIB Network. Hi.

CALLER: Happy Friday, Rush.

RUSH: Thank you, sir. Happy Halloween to you.


CALLER: Absolutely. I just wanted to let you know, first of all, I’ve been listening since 1988, and keep up the good work. God bless you. I appreciate it. And secondly, a friend of mine and I, we’ve been talking about this for a while. Probably since, oh, the first book came out. And with the Great Pumpkin that was on last night, we were watching, and it just occurred to me, and I said, “I’m gonna give it a shot to try to see if I can get hold of you today.” Have you considered turning any of your kids’ books into animation for television at all yet?

RUSH: Oh, yeah. We have looked into it. We talk about it all the time. We examine every facet of this: animation, video, produce the series for broadcast and DVD. We looked at it any number of ways. What we have found is that it is really expensive. So we’re trying to decide when we get serious about it, do we want to own the whole thing? Do we want to partner with people that do that in their own business and do some kind of percentage deal with it? Yeah, because the demand for it is off the charts.

CALLER: I would think so.

RUSH: You wouldn’t believe the number of readers who are asking, “Man, Rush, these would be so great as an animated series.” This was just right after the first book came out. So, yeah, it’s something we are always talking about and looking at.

CALLER: Well, that’s good to know. We’ll be looking forward to it when it finally comes to fruition.

RUSH: Well, it would be great if it did. But I don’t want anybody to misunderstand. I’m not committing to it. I mean, even if I were, I could always pull it back next week and say I did. But we’re not committed to it. But it’s something that we would really, really like to do. It would just open up all kinds of different distribution and present the stories in an entirely different format, which would reach even more people, which is the objective. So, yeah, we look at it all the time.
