RUSH: De Blasio, already the rich on the Upper East Side are claiming that de Blasio’s not plowing their streets to get even with them for being rich. And de Blasio is saying no, no, no, no, it has nothing to do with the fact that I hate you — and I do — it has nothing to do with that. It is that our snowplow GPS was tuned to CNN for the Fareed Zakaria show and missed the Upper East Side. We didn’t get there. It was just a GPS problem. But it wasn’t the fact that I hate the rich, and it wasn’t that I wanted to get even with you and have you find out what it’s like to live in the outter boroughs where no snow is removed. No, it’s just a coincidence that you are finding out how the other half lives. My genuine resentment and envy and hatred for you on the Upper East Side has nothing to do with it, said the new mayor, Bill de Blasio.
He’s been hit with his second snowstorm in less than a month of being in office. You know, those are the things that, in large part, determine whether or not a mayor is successful in a city like New York.
BREAK TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: I have an innocent little question, ladies and gentlemen. The New York mayor, Bill de Blasio, admitted that his regime did not snowplow the streets where wealthy New Yorkers live on the Upper East Side. There were allegations that he did this on purpose, that people that live on the Upper East Side think that he did it on purpose (some of them do) as a means of getting even with them because they’re rich, or wealthy, and he doesn’t like them because of that.
Some of them think that he did this so that the wealthy can find out what it’s really like for most people in this snake pit of a country. Well, given all of that — given that the streets of the Upper East Side have not been plowed — would you assume that there are traffic problems there? I would. I would assume that there are traffic delays, bottlenecks, perhaps even for emergency service vehicles, much like there was when the lanes from Fort Lee were blocked on the George Washington Bridge.
So is this kind of like what Christie did, or is alleged to have done, de Blasio punishing his political opponents by not plowing the streets where they live?
I’m wondering. Will there be an investigation of this, hmm?
