RUSH: I was gonna see if the sound bite roster’s got Wayne LaPierre on it, and… Okay. Nobody… Well, maybe I will use it if we get it down to it. Anyway, he went out, sat low, lied low for couple weeks. The NRA, of course, is to blame for what happened at Sandy Hook. Oh, yeah! The NRA is to blame. CNN has been ginning up hatred for the NRA for a week. The rest of the Drive-By Media has been ginning up hatred for the NRA for a week. The NRA was very classy and laid back for a week. They didn’t say anything, didn’t get involved, didn’t attempt to exploit it one way or another. They are the greatest, the largest gun safety organization in the country.
So LaPierre goes out today; he gets heckled, shouted down.
And when he gets to the meat of what he’s saying, CNN goes to a commercial break.

RUSH: Now, we got the Wayne LaPierre sound bites. Wayne LaPierre of the National Rifle Association went out today and had a press conference just before the program started. We have five sound bites. Here’s the first…
LAPIERRE: Does anybody really believe that the next Adam Lanza isn’t planning his attack on a school he’s already identified at this very moment? How many more copycats are waiting in the wings for their moment of fame from a national media machine that rewards them with wall-to-wall attention and a sense of identity that they crave, while provoking others to try to make their mark? A dozen more killers? A hundred more? How can we possibly even guess how many?
RUSH: They hate this guy. They hate this guy! So now he’s putting the onus on the media. He’s putting the onus on Hollywood as you’ll hear coming up. “How many copycats? How many people are targeting their schools, and on what basis are they targeting them?” Here’s the next LaPierre sound bite…
LAPIERRE: There exists in this country — sadly — a callous, corrupt, and corrupting shadow industry that sells and sows violence against its own people through vicious, violent video games. Here’s one. (sigh) It’s called Kindergarten Killers. It’s been online for ten years. How come my research staff can find it and all of yours couldn’t, or didn’t want anyone to know you had found it?
RUSH: It’s a video game, “Kindergarten Killers.” Ten years, it’s out there. See, but you don’t do this. He’s calling attention to the stuff that everybody wants ignored or papered over or, in fact, defended. “Oh, come on! Hollywood had nothing to do with it. Just grow up. These people are doing it on their own.” The only time the left ever supports personal responsibility is when their institutions are under assault. Here’s the next LaPierre bite…
LAPIERRE: We have blood-soaked films out there like American Psycho, Natural Born Killers. They’re aired like propaganda loops, and every single day. A child growing up in America today witnesses 16,000 murders and 200,000 acts of violence by the time he or she reaches the ripe old age of 18. Throughout it all, too many in the national media, their corporate owners, and their stockholders act as silent enablers if not complicit coconspirators. Rather than face their own moral failings, the media demonize gun owners.
RUSH: Who had nothing to do with it! They had nothing whatsoever to do with it. In fact, I’d venture to say that 99% of the gun owners in this country, had they been there, would have gone over and taken the shooter out, had they had the chance. But it was a “gun-free zone.” This next bite is some of the solutions that he’s thinking about.
LAPIERRE: The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. I can imagine the headlines — the shocking headlines — you’ll print tomorrow. Your implication will be that guns are evil and have no place in society, much less in our schools. But since when did the gun automatically become a bad word? With all the money in the federal budget, can’t we afford to put a police officer in every single school?
RUSH: How many people want that, though?
How many people want schools to become…? (interruption) You do? Well, see, here’s the thing. Either deal with reality, or you say, “Let’s roll back the clock to where such a thing isn’t necessary,” and which is easier to do? Put the cop, the armed cop, the armed guard in the school…? Everybody knows he’s there, just like the sky marshal. You know he’s there but you don’t know who he is on the airplane.
You know you have a sky marshal. You know you have somebody with a weapon on this airplane, but you don’t know who. You put somebody on there. Make ’em uniformed. Let everybody know who it is, but somebody’s there. In every instance of these shootings, what is it that ends it? Somebody else shows up with a gun aimed at the perp. That’s when he either commits suicide or runs for it and is shot or what have you.
He doesn’t complete it, doesn’t finish it ’til somebody shows up that can stop him. I think most parents would probably say, “Yep, put an armed guard in there.” It would be easier than rolling back the clock a couple generations where it wasn’t necessary because our culture hadn’t spiraled out of control. But now that it has we gotta deal with it as it exists. Well, the media didn’t like any of this. The media saw to it that some opponents of Wayne LaPierre by the name of Code Pink went in there.
AGITATOR: Reckless behavior coming from the NRA! The NRA has blood on its hands! The NRA has blood on its hands! Shame on the NRA! Ban assault weapons now! Ban assault weapons now! NRA, stop killing our children! We need gun control now!
RUSH: And the voice of sanity for the low-information voter shows up. Yep, it’s the NRA that’s the problem. Yep, it’s the NRA with blood on its hands. It’s the NRA killing our children.
That’s what the media believes.
It’s what a certain percentage of the country believes. It’s what all leftists believe. The NRA is to blame here. The gun culture is to blame, not their culture.
No way, Jose.

RUSH: It’s Olivia from Dallas. Great to have you on the EIB Network. Hello.
CALLER: Hi, Rush!
RUSH: Hi.
CALLER: I wanted to ask you what Adam Lanza’s political orientation is, because the last time I remember there was a really politicized shooting they were very quick to blame Sarah Palin. I’m talking about the 2011 Tucson shooting of Gabrielle Giffords.
RUSH: Actually, the last time prior to this was The Dark Knight Rising.
CALLER: But it wasn’t. It wasn’t, like, a politicized shooting very much.
RUSH: Oh, yes, it was! ABC News tried to blame it on the Tea Party. Brian Ross tried to. They found the guy’s name, and the first thing they looked at was a local Tea Party roster to see if they could find a name there. They found the same name, a different guy, and Brian Ross goes on Good Morning America and says, “We think this guy might be a member of the Tea Party.”
CALLER: Right. So I’m wondering if all this talk about his background and his psychology, I wonder if they haven’t unearthed what it was. I remember with Jared Loughner they said that he was a Republican, and it turned out that he was actually quite liberal.
RUSH: They all are liberals.
CALLER: (giggles)
RUSH: If they’re mentally disturbed —
CALLER: Oh, that’s not fair.
RUSH: You’re right. That was mean. I’m sorry. You’re terribly right, terribly right. That’s one of those just can’t tell the truth about. You’re right. I should not-a said it. I take that back. Take that back. We don’t know what his political affiliation was. That’s right. There hasn’t been any curiosity about that.
CALLER: That was my main comment.
RUSH: There must be a reason why. What do you think the reason why nobody would want to find out what his mother’s or his was. We don’t even know that. There’s one source that says that she was a survivalist and a perp. We don’t even know that’s true because these sources haven’t been right about very much. What’s your wild guess? What do you think his political affiliation was?
CALLER: I mean, I’m not that concerned with what his political affiliation, if he’s liberal or Republican or whatever, but I just find it interesting that it always is assumed —
RUSH: Right.
CALLER: — that it’s some kind of radical, right-wing person when most of the shooters are left-wing.
RUSH: Gotta take a break. I just saw the clock. I was off by a minute.
