Tea Partier: Don’t Back Off 47%, Mitt!

by Rush Limbaugh - Oct 16,2012

RUSH: Diana, Bloomington, Indiana. It’s great to have you on the EIB Network. Hello.

CALLER: Hello, Rush. Nice to be here. I have a comment that I wanted to make about the 47%, and I don’t think President Obama knows that he needs to tread lightly here. But first I wanted to thank you for all the times you have stood firm in the face of public criticism and attack over the years. On more than one occasion, my teenaged sons have taken note of it, and in a day and age where there are so few strong public male role models for our sons, I just want you to know that I appreciate you for that.

RUSH: Thank you so much. I really appreciate that more than you know.

CALLER: Oh, good, good. Well, I just wanted to say that I think, regarding the 47%, that when Governor Romney made the statement he resonated very strongly with the Tea Party. Because what I understood him to say when he said that was that there are a certain percentage of Americans that do not make decisions using guiding principles of liberty, but based upon selfishness and immediate gratification. And he needed to say something like this to energize those of us on the far right, and I think President Obama knows this. If he brings it up in a debate — I think you had mentioned it one day this week on the show, that he can’t — he opens up the opportunity for Governor Romney to then educate all these people.

RUSH: You’re exactly right. The bloodsuckers on the left want him to mention that 47% because they think it’s a nail in Romney’s coffin, and it’s not anywhere near that. So we’ll see.
