RUSH: Let’s go to the audio sound bites. I asked Cookie for these at the last moment. I put her under the gun; she came through like a champ. I said, “I just want the questions of Obama at Univision.” We all know the answers. (impression) “Well, you can’t change Washington from the inside. You can only do it from the outside, and I failed. Immigration? Yep, I failed!” We’ll analyze all that in just a second. I want you to hear the questions. This is a montage of Univision questions.
They come from Jorge Ramos and Maria Elena Salinas, and for the first time in four years, Obama got some legitimate questions! He was actually questioned about his role as president. He was questioned about his performance. He was held accountable for the first time in four years by, of all things, Univision. I don’t mean to be putting them down, but we would assume that they’re in his back pocket. Haven’t we been told that Hispanics love Obama? They’re all-in. It’s hopeless.
Romney doesn’t have a chance of getting Hispanic votes. “Don’t even try! Hispanics love Obama.” I’m sure he thought so going into this studio. You see him in this interview? He is sitting there all cocky and arrogant and thinking that they’re thinking he’s the greatest thing since sliced bread, and he doesn’t know what’s hit him with these questions. Here, just listen. This is about a minute and a half. Bam, bam, bam, montage. It’s one question after another.
SALINAS: (via translator) Why wasn’t your administration better prepared with more security at our embassies on September 11?
SALINAS: (via translator) Do you have information indicating that it was Iran, or al Qaeda, who was behind organizing the protests?
RAMOS: (via translator) At the beginning of your governing, you had control of both chambers of Congress, and yet you did not introduce immigration reform. And before I continue, I want for you to acknowledge that you did not keep your promise.
RAMOS: I don’t want it to get lost in translation: You promised that, and a promise is a promise — and with all due respect, you didn’t keep that promise.
SALINAS: (via translator) Mr. President, you have been the president who has made the largest number of deportations in history, more than 1.5 million so far. You’ve separated many families.
SALINAS: (via translator) Some of your critics to say that it was just only to win the Hispanic vote. Why didn’t you do that earlier during your presidency?
ALCORTA: (via translator) Mr. President, I am a student at the journalism school at UM. This is my question to you: What would you recommend to Latina women such as I in order to be successful in my search for employment in the United States?
SALINAS: (via translator) You have supported [Mexican] President Calderon’s policy against drug trafficking. Do you think that after 65,000 deaths it’s time to change the strategy? Can you consider the 65,000 a failure and the policy should change?
OBAMA: Uh, thatÂ’s why —
SALINAS: (via translator) How many more people have to die?
RAMOS: Shouldn’t Attorney General Eric Holder have known about that? And if he didn’t, should you fire him?
RAMOS: So if you have nothing to hide, then why are you not releasing papers?
SALINAS: (via translator) Why don’t we have — very briefly — an independent investigation —
OBAMA: (stammering) Maria Elena —
SALINAS: — that is not from the Justice Department?
SALINAS: (via translator) What is your biggest failure?
RUSH: (chuckling) Do you hear this? You hear that? Now, they’re upset about two things. The Univision people, they’re upset that Obama has not done amnesty. They want amnesty. That’s what immigration reform is to them. They want amnesty, and he didn’t do it. He promised he would do it, and for the first two years the Republicans could not-a stopped him, and that’s what they know. The Republicans didn’t have the votes to stop Obama on anything.
But he pursued health care. (impression) “I, well, had to go health care first. That’s what I wanted.” The other thing that they’re mad about is Fast and Furious, because they know it was Hispanics who died in Fast and Furious. Three hundred people, at latest count. Between two and three hundred. You heard the question: “[S]houldn’t Eric Holder be fired…?” Listen to this media montage, sound bite two. The domestic media is kind of shocked here at the questions Obama got.
DIANE SAWYER: (music) The president, fending off heated questions tonight!
BRIANNA KEILAR: (b-roll noise) He got some tough questions.
WOLF BLITZER: …tough questions at a town hall held by Univision.
PIERS MORGAN: President Obama facing tough questions!
ANA NAVARRO: …some very tough questions.
SCOTT PELLEY: Today, he faced some really tough questions.
RUSH: How about that? Here’s our own Drive-By Media stunned! They’ve forgotten what “tough questions” are. They hear them being asked by Univision, and it’s a story. It’s so rare for Obama to face tough questions that they do a story about it. See, our media would never get mad at Obama over failing amnesty or Fast and Furious. But the Univision crowd and the Hispanics, they’re mad that he didn’t fulfill that promise. They bought it. They believed it. They thought it would be reality by now.

RUSH: You know, these questions were one thing, but Obama lied all the way through them. He lied in his answers, and, believe me, they knew it. Now, folks I want to stress again, we’ve been told, Romney’s been told, “Don’t worry about the Hispanics. You can’t get enough to matter. The Hispanic population is all Democrat, all the time, and they love Obama.” Really? Is that what we saw yesterday at Univision? They basically asked him, “Haven’t you failed? Why didn’t you get this done? Why did you lie to us?” Not happy out there.
I’ll tell you who else isn’t happy. You’re not hearing anything about this. Black preachers are fit to be tied over Obama and gay marriage. And a bunch of black preachers, I don’t know how many there is, in their churches, are urging their churches not to vote for Obama. It’s a big deal in the black community. You’re not hearing about that, either. All you’re hearing about is this massive love and support for Obama. It isn’t there, folks. I mean, not to the extent that it’s being described. So let’s delve into this just a little bit here. Jorge Ramos says, “I don’t know if you have already read the book No Easy Day, in which a Navy SEAL tells the story of how Osama bin Laden was killed. According to many, his death was your biggest achievement. What is your biggest failure?”
OBAMA: Obviously the fact that we haven’t been able to change the tone in Washington is disappointing. You know, we know now that as soon as I came into office, you already had meetings among some of our Republican colleagues saying, you know, how do we figure out how to beat the president. And, you know, I think that I’ve learned some lessons over the last four years, and the most important lesson I’ve learned is that you can’t change Washington from the inside. You can only change it from the outside.
RUSH: You can’t change Washington from the inside. You can’t. All you can do is change it from the outside. That is an admission of failure. That right there. And the media’s trying to explain this away, The Politico, all these other Drive-Bys are doing everything they can to try to smooth this over. But what does it mean? He’s just said that he’s worthless. He’s just said he’s unable, ’cause he’s inside now. He’s disqualified. He’s learned, you can’t change Washington as president. You know what? You can’t change Washington as president. You can’t change Washington from the inside. You can only do it from the outside. What a crock.
Sununu was on TV last night, you know what he said? This inside, outside stuff is a bunch of crap. You change Washington from the top. And he’s exactly right. You change Washington from the top. And the top is the president. So President Obama’s new slogan, “No, I couldn’t.” You know, after the election 2008, “Yes, we can! Yes, we can!” Obama, (imitating Obama) “Sorry, sorry, no, I couldn’t, I couldn’t do it. You can’t do it from the inside.” And this is a superior intellect. This is what everybody, “Oh, man, nobody’s smarter than this guy, ever.” Let’s go back, June 3rd, 2008, St. Paul, Minnesota, I guess something else you can’t do from inside Washington.
OBAMA: This was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless. This was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal. This was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last best hope on earth. This was the moment, this was the time when we came together to remake this great nation so that it may always reflect our very best selves and our highest ideals.
RUSH: Thump. What happened to all that lowering the sea levels, ending the war? I guess you can’t do any of that from inside Washington, either. By the way, Romney’s here in Florida. He was at a couple fundraisers last night. One of them was a hundred grand a couple and it was up near Seminole Golf Club, which is near Juno Beach. He had two last night. One was 50 grand a couple, the other a hundred grand a couple, and the crowds, I don’t know if you’ve seen it, the crowds that Romney is drawing in this state are huge. They are huge crowds, and it’s not being reported. The people attending know it, but you’re not seeing it. I happened to notice it in a still shot on a website last night. It wasn’t commented on in the caption of the picture or in the story about Romney and his fundraising. It was just there. I mean, it was patently obvious to see. I think it was in Sarasota, but wherever it was, it was massive, a massive crowd.
Last night I’m watching the Giants and the Panthers on Thursday Night Football, and that’s where Obama was supposed to fill up that stadium for his acceptance speech. I looked at the blimp shot of the stadium before the game, and the place was full. Well, the Panthers can sell it out. They told us, “Yeah, the community’s too small. There’s really not enough hotels and stuff. We didn’t have room for everybody in that 65,000 seat place so we had to shut it down and move it inside.” I looked at that and it became clear to me how over this whole thing with Obama is, because in 2008, they did fill stadiums like that. And there it was filled last night for a football game, the very place that Obama was gonna accept the nomination this time around.
They couldn’t even find 20,000 people to put in there. In fact, where Obama did give his acceptance, the capacity’s 20,000, and 15,000 of them are media. The rest are family and delegates, 5,000 or so. So it just struck me. Filling that stadium, that would have been a big deal. For any single individual to make a speech to fill a stadium, that would have been a big deal, and he didn’t do it. Not like he did in ’08. And nobody’s talking about it, but they had to move something similar in Vegas two weeks ago or last week from outside to inside and they used weather as an excuse again, and there wasn’t any weather on that day. Here’s what Romney said inside, outside.
ROMNEY: We face a Washington that’s broken, that can’t get the job done. The president today threw in the white flag of surrender again. He said he can’t change Washington from inside, he could only change it from outside. Well, we’re gonna give him that chance in November. He’s going outside!
RUSH: Whoa! I hear an animated Romney there. I hear a jazzed and fired-up Romney. That was in fact in Sarasota, Florida. Okay, let’s just do a couple hits from the Univision interview. It was down at Coral Gables where the University of Miami is, and the Meet the Candidate Forum. Romney was there earlier, by the way. Romney went to this thing earlier this week or last week, I forget which, and it didn’t get a whole lot of coverage, but it was respectful, he answered the questions seriously. I don’t think there’s any contest, folks, really, terms of real people. Just because it doesn’t get reported doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen.
Okay, so the question, “Mr. President, I want to ask you something that is known as the ‘Obama promise.’ On May 28th, 2008, we had a conversation in Denver, Colorado, and you told me the following — and I’m going to quote you: ‘But I can guarantee that we will have, in the first year, an immigration bill that I strongly support.’ I want to emphasize ‘the first year.’ At the beginning of your governing, you had control of both chambers of Congress, and yet you did not introduce immigration reform. And before I continue, I want for you to acknowledge that you did not keep your promise.” This is Jorge Ramos, to the president of the United States. The Drive-Bys watching this can’t believe it. They’re wondering if Ramos is gonna get out of there alive. And here was The One’s answer.
OBAMA: When we talked about immigration reform in the first year, that’s before the economy was on the verge of collapse. Lehman Brothers had collapsed. The stock market was collapsing. And so my first priority was making sure that we prevented us from going into a Great Depression. So that took up a huge amount of time in the first year. What I confess I did not expect, and so I’m happy to take responsibility for being naive here, is that Republicans who had previously supported comprehensive immigration reform, my opponent in 2008, who had been a champion of it, and who attended these meetings, suddenly would walk away. That’s what I did not anticipate.
RUSH: But el presidente, it didn’t because matter because they didn’t have the votes to stop you. El presidente, what does it matter where Senor McCain went or these other mythical Republicans? You had the votes! You coulda had anything you wanted. That was the question. He lied right to their faces. You think they bought that? After the question mentions, “you’ve got all the votes, the Republicans couldn’t stop you, you had both houses of Congress,” and Obama’s answer, “I didn’t realize the Republicans would the change their mind.” Where’s his bill? That’s what the question was, where’s your bill? He didn’t even put forth the bill. “Well, I didn’t realize the economy was that bad and I had to stave off a Great Depression.” Well, how did that work out? “Yeah, and I had to do stimulus and I had to have shovel-ready jobs.” How did that all work out?
Folks, this is incompetence on parade. I got to thinking last night, and I’ve said this before, and I’m not crying over spilt milk. I’m not even crying. I’m just observing how different this would all be if the media were even 35% fair. A lot of people, in a constitutional sense, look at the media as the referees. And I don’t know that they’ve ever been the referees, but I’ll tell you how most people feel. I think most people bring it down to the essence of what’s going on. We’re being cheated. It’s just that simple. This isn’t a level playing field. The arena of ideas has been stacked. The media is cheating. And this interview at Univision demonstrated just how much they are cheating and just how corrupt they have become.
It was so profound that the media was doing stories on the hard-hitting questions Obama got. Can you believe that? Obama must think the Hispanic press is as stupid and biased as the English language press is. They know he didn’t put up a bill. They know he didn’t lift a little finger on immigration. They know that all he did was talk about it. They know that he could have had anything he wanted; the Republicans couldn’t stop him. It was even mentioned in the question.
RAMOS: A promise is a promise, and, with all due respect, you didn’t keep that promise.
OBAMA: Well, here’s what I would say, Jorge, is that — and we’ve had this conversation before. There’s the thinking that the president is somebody who is all powerful and can get everything done. In our branch of gov, uh, in our system of government, I am the head of the executive branch. I’m not the head of the legislature. I’m not the head of the judiciary.
RUSH: Stop the tape. You hear this pandering? Okay, let me tell you stupid Hispanics how it works. You got the whole wrong idea. I’m the president, but I can’t do it all by myself. I don’t know what you’re thinking, but there’s the executive branch in our system of government, and I’m not the head of the legislature. You were. You had it in your back pocket. Here, finish the bite.
OBAMA: You have to have cooperation from all these sources in order to get something done, and so I am happy to take responsibility for the fact that we didn’t get it done, but I did not make a promise that I would get everything done a hundred percent when I was elected as president.
RUSH: He made a promise. He didn’t put forth a bill. He had the Congress totally behind him. The Republicans didn’t matter. He may as well have been running the legislature. For crying out loud, folks, he bypasses Congress to give temporary amnesty to children of illegal aliens who were born here. He bypasses Congress in stripping the work requirements out of welfare. He bypasses Congress any damn well time he pleases!

RUSH: This is from a student, Arianne Alcorta. “Mr. President, I am a student at the journalism school at [University of Miami]. This is my question to you: What would you recommend to Latina women such as me in order to be successful in my search for employment in the United States?” In other words: How do I get a job in your rotgut economy?
OBAMA: Look, the economy, uh, has been very tough, uh, for the last four years. And so there are a lot of young people out there, uh, who’ve graduated; have a great education but have still had trouble, uh, getting work. The most important thing you can do, the best investment you can make to make sure you have a good job, uh, is to get it — uh, a college education. So what you’re doing now cuts in half the likelihood that you end up unemployed.
RUSH: Not guarantees, just “cuts in half.” So you only have 50% of it, and that’s if you stay in college. There’s another way of doing this, which is what many Obama voters are doing to deal with this situation. The way Obama voters deal with unemployment and the way non-Obama voters deal with it is a very different thing. For example, Arianna, you could get a husband and make him work. You could live with your parents; stay on their health care plan. You could blame George Bush. Instead of asking Obama what’s wrong, blame Bush. You could have stood up there and said, “Mr. Obama, I can’t find a job. I’m at journalism school in the University of Miami and I can’t find a job. What did George Bush do?” See, that should have been the question, but it’s hard-hitting stuff out there.

RUSH: One more sound bite or two from the Univision appearance of President Obama yesterday, which was an absolute disaster. The next question from Jorge Ramos: “Mr. President, you told me during an interview that neither Eric Holder or you did not authorize the Fast and Furious operation that allowed 2,000 weapons from the United States to Mexico, and they were in drug-trafficking hands. I think that up to 100 Mexicans might have died, and also American agent, Brian Terry. There’s a report that 14 agents were responsible for the operation. But shouldn’t Attorney General Eric Holder have known about that? And if he didn’t, should you fire him?”
OBAMA: It’s important for us to understand that the Fast and Furious program was a field-initiated program begun under the previous administration. When Eric Holder found out about it, he discontinued it. Eric Holder has my complete confidence because he has shown himself to be willing to hold accountable those who took these actions and is passionate about making sure that we’re preventing guns from getting into the wrong hands.
RUSH: He’s not. Folks, we’ve been through this. You’re on the cutting edge. You’ve heard this before but I’m gonna tell you again. What you just heard the president say was not true. He’s lying. Fast and Furious was a program that originated under the Obama administration. The plan that originated under the Bush administration was called Wide Receiver. It was disbanded and discontinued when it was determined that it was a failure. It did not work. Bush’s program, Wide Receiver, had ended more than two years before Obama took office. There is no evidence that Fast and Furious ended because Holder found out about it.
Fast and Furious was something that this administration conceived. They knew about Wide Receiver. They were intrigued by that program, but what Wide Receiver did that Fast and Furious didn’t do, was track the guns. To refresh your memory, Fast and Furious was ostensibly a program designed to figure out how in the world American weapons were ending up in the hands of drug cartels in Mexico. And what they did, it’s firmly established that what I’m going to tell you is undeniably true. A very few number of gun shops in Arizona and Phoenix sold weapons knowingly on order from the US government, to people who were gun runners. They were allowed to cross the border, take the weapons across the border, and they were to be used by Mexican drug lords.
They were not tracked. The guns were not tracked. All Fast and Furious did was give guns to drug cartels. Wide Receiver, the Bush administration program, tried to track the guns. There were tracking devices in them. Wide Receiver arrested buyers, but they weren’t able to get all of them, and they weren’t able to get the guns out of people’s hands once they were there so they shut it down. Many people theorized that what seemed attractive about Wide Receiver to Eric Holder and Obama — now, who are they? They are liberals, and that means something. And one of the things being a liberal means is that you don’t like people, private citizens, having guns. You just don’t like it. You don’t like the Second Amendment. If you could, as a liberal, you would erase it. If you could, as a liberal, you would take guns out of every private citizen’s hands, even for hunting.
If you are a liberal, that’s what you believe. There are maybe a couple very rich liberals that like to hunt, but for the most part, being a liberal, an Obama liberal, an Eric Holder liberal, wants to get guns out of the people’s hands. So what’s their problem? Well, aside from the Constitution, their problem is the majority of the American people don’t want to give up their guns. In fact, gun sales continue to skyrocket during the Obama administration. There are people who think they might actually need them to protect themselves. Well, Obama and every liberal like him simply doesn’t like that. And they don’t like the idea that the American people don’t agree with them on the Second Amendment.
So how to get rid of guns. The American people don’t want to do it, and, by the way, it’s such a losing political issue. All the polling data doesn’t matter, election data standing for gun control, you lose. Algore came out against gun control in a presidential debate with Bush in 2000. John Kerry went into Ohio or Indiana dressed up like some guy in camouflage gear, walks in the gun store, and says, “Is this where I get me a huntin’ license?” I mean, they do everything they can to make people think they don’t want to get rid of guns, but they do. So you got a problem. The American people don’t want to give up their guns. What do you do? What liberals always do. Try to create a false narrative or impression that the American people have had it and are fed up with it and we gotta get guns out of people’s hands. They want that cry erupting from all over America.
So many people think that the point of Fast and Furious was very simple. Get these guns into the hands of some of the deadliest, vicious, trigger happy criminals you can find. And they’re very close. They run drug cartels south of the border. They’re in Mexico. So you give them the guns, and they’ll go crazy, ’cause people die in gun raids or drug cartel activities every day. And what happened was, one of our agents, Brian Terry, died, and more than a hundred Mexicans, and what was supposed to happen, the American people were supposed to hear this news, and they’re supposed to be outraged at two things. A, that drug cartels have American guns? You mean, it’s that easy that some loco weed can cross the border, buy a gun, and take it home to Mexico and there’s nothing to stop him? That’s right. And then they start shooting people.
The outcry was supposed to be, the American people were supposed to rise up in indignation, “You’ve gotta shut that down. We’ve gotta stop making guns so easily –” that’s what they were trying to do, shape public opinion so that you ended up demanding gun control. But it didn’t work. And there are now e-mails back and forth, Darrell Issa’s committee, that the attorney general’s office, DOJ lied about all of this. It’s pretty clear that this is a very serious bit of corruption, and that’s why the question, “Should Holder be fired?”
