Caller Attests to the Raspberry Effect

RUSH: We’ll start in Chicago. This is Molly. She’s going to talk about the Raspberry Effect. I’m glad you waited. I appreciate your patience, and welcome to the EIB Network. Hi.

CALLER: Hello.

RUSH: I’m glad you hung in there and didn’t hang up.

CALLER: Thank you.

RUSH: Okay, this is your big showbiz break.

CALLER: Hi. I was calling because I heard you mention in the opening that you were accused of being a racist and that the media portrays you that way. And I was calling because, actually, four years ago that was me. And I actually voted for Obama. And thanks to my boyfriend, actually, he talked about you all the time. I’m like, “I can’t listen to him. He’s obnoxious, he’s rude, he’s everything.” My boyfriend was like, “Have you ever listened to him?” I said, “No.” And he goes, “Well, how can you say that?” I had to agree with that. I started listening to you, and I have listened to you ever since and I have completely changed my mind about you. I’ve completely changed how I look at politics and how I vote, and I will not be voting for Obama this year.


RUSH: Molly, it takes a big person to admit this. That’s why it was a big deal for William Raspberry to do it, in a nationally syndicated column. It takes a big person to admit they were mistaken. Why did you think I was obnoxious and rude, braggadocios, and pompous? Just ’cause that’s what everybody said?

CALLER: Because the mainstream media portrayed you that way.

RUSH: Yeah. Well, I’m glad that your boyfriend hung in there and had success in suggesting that you actually listen so we could say, “Welcome home.” Great to have you here. And thanks for holding on.
