David in Nashville, great to have you on the Rush Limbaugh program.
CALLER: Yeah, hey, Rush, what a great honor after listening to you for decades, I can’t believe I finally got through.
RUSH: Thank you.
CALLER: But you have done a great job in pointing out the violent rhetoric against Bush and other people on the right, but I think you’re overlooking the biggest one that sticks out. When they took a shot at you, I think it was Wanda Sykes (it was at the press corps dinner), who said she wished you would catch a disease, wished you would die, and Obama, his staff, and all the liberal media laughed their heads off about it. To me, it just shows the true hypocrisy of the administration and of the media that just continues on and on.
RUSH: You know, you’re right. I had forgotten about that. She did, at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. She wished… This is after, you know, they were misrepresenting what I said. Everybody knew what I meant when I said, ‘I hope he fails,’ so I think she hoped for kidney failure for me, that I died from kidney failure, and you’re right. Obama, the dais, and the people in the crowd laughed themselves silly at the wishing for my death. No question about it. But see, that’s just good humor, and I’m a public figure. I have to be able to take it. I’m juuuust a public figure. But I don’t know. All this talk about ‘incendiary rhetoric’ leading to violence and so forth and promoting unbalanced people to take action? Somehow they always seem insulated from it when they engage in that kind of rhetoric.

RUSH: From the Grooveyard of Forgotten Favorites. It was May 9th, 2009, in Washington at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. The comedienne Wanda Sykes said this about me while Mr. Civility, Barack Hussein Obama, mmm, mmm, mmm, was laughing.
SYKES: Rush Limbaugh, one of your big critics. Boy, Rush Limbaugh said he hopes this administration fails. Like I don’t care about people losing their homes or jobs or soldiers in Iraq, he just wants the country to fail. To me, that’s treason. He’s not saying anything differently than what Osama bin Laden is saying. You know, you might want to look into this, sir, because I think maybe Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker but he was just so strung out on OxyContin he missed his flight. Rush Limbaugh, I hope the country fails. I hope his kidneys fail. How about that? He needs a little waterboarding, that’s what he needs.
RUSH: And Obama was laughing. So those are lessons in civility from the left, the comedienne Wanda Sykes, May 9th, 2009, in Washington, DC. And there wasn’t any condemnation, really, of Wanda Sykes. There was just hard-hitting comedienne, hard-hitting material, blah, blah, blah. You see, wishing for the death of conservatives is just good, clean fun. Like civility, censorship. It’s just good, clean fun.
