RUSH: To Spring Hill, Florida. Amber it’s nice to have you with us hello.
RUSH: Thank you very much.
CALLER: (giggles)
RUSH: I understand that. There are lots of jealous husbands out there and I can hear you perfectly.
CALLER: Okay great. What my question is, I’m at A Conversation on Health Care with Congresswoman Ginny Brown-Waite, and I just wanted to ask if you have any specific questions that I should ask.
RUSH: You’re at a conversation…? Wait a minute. You said you’re at a town hall.
CALLER: Town hall meeting. It’s a Conversation on Health Care with Congresswoman Ginny Brown-Waite, town hall meeting in Minneola, Florida.
RUSH: Are there other people talking to her right now?
CALLER: No, it starts at two o’clock but she’s got a panel of health care professionals to talk with her.
RUSH: Well, now, you showed up on your own without me asking you to go. What question were you going to ask?
CALLER: Where in the Constitution does it say that the president can dictate what he can or cannot do with our health care?
RUSH: That’s a great question. See, you’ve already gotten the proper guidance without even speaking to me. That’s a great question.
CALLER: Well, I heard it from you about an hour ago when I was on hold. (laughs)
RUSH: Well, that’s fine. You still got it. You still got it. ‘Okay, look, I’ve been going through Constitution. I don’t see where there is executive authority for telling me what kind of insurance I can have or can’t have or where it has to be held. Where’s the constitutional authority for the president to do this?’
CALLER: Yes. And it’s pretty relaxed here. I don’t see any kind of weird stuff going on. We’re able to get in real fine.
RUSH: Well, it will only get raucous if this member of Congress insults everybody’s intelligence there with an answer or two. Then it will come alive. But the people showing up there are not loaded for bear until the congressman or congresswoman indicates that they’re not up to speed on the details. Well, they’re loaded for bear but they’re polite people. They’re not showing up there to disrupt things. They’re showing up there to get answers and to be heard.
CALLER: Well, I’m ready to go in case anybody has any questions for me.
RUSH: Well, I’m sure that you are prepared. You don’t want to overload yourself with preparation, though.
CALLER: I’m ready to go. So I just wanted to see if there was anything specifically you think that I should ask while I’m here.
RUSH: Snerdley, give me a question. Is there anything you would have her ask aside from the extra-constitutional question? (interruption) I mean, these questions are —
CALLER: Hi, Snerdley. (giggles)
RUSH: Mmm-hmm. Mmm-hmm. Mmm-hmm. Here’s one for you. This is a good one from Snerdley. You could ask… What is this woman’s name again, the member of Congress?
CALLER: What’s that?
RUSH: What’s this member of Congress’ name?
CALLER: Congresswoman Ginny Brown-Waite.
RUSH: Ginny Brown-Waite?
CALLER: Yes.
RUSH: Is she a Republican or Democrat?
CALLER: She is a Republican.
RUSH: She’s a Republican.
CALLER: And she is against health care. She is against cap and trade.
RUSH: Well, if she’s against health care and you ask her, ‘Where in the Constitution does it say this?’
CALLER: Okay.
RUSH: She’s going to say it doesn’t say anything about this in this in the Constitution. This is not going to be confrontational ’cause this woman’s against it, that’s why the crowd is not going nuts.
CALLER: Dang it! (laughs) I was hoping to get some confrontation going so I could speak my mind.
RUSH: Ask her this, Amber: ‘Congressman Brown-Waite, do you sense that Democrats in Congress are worried about their reelection if they ignore the wishes of the American people on health care?’
CALLER: Okay, that’s a great question.
RUSH: Yeah.
CALLER: I will get on that.
RUSH: You ask her if she knows that Democrats are worried about their reelection.
CALLER: Reelection. All righty.
RUSH: Yeah, and report back, Amber. We want to know how that went.

RUSH: Louise in Colchester, Vermont. Welcome to the EIB Network. Hello.
CALLER: Hi. Thank you.
RUSH: Yes.
CALLER: Rush, I went to a Bernie Sanders astroturf town hall meeting on health care yesterday in a small town that was away from any population center. I got there at the time that I was told and it was already like an hour late for food because all of the disciples were there and they knew to get there at 4:30. Now, the food is not important but of course just that there was an inside group of hundreds people, and it definitely looked to be organized by some union, because many of them in the long line to get in the meeting room had these union shirts on and professionally prepared posters for universal health care, and just about everybody in the line had these little stickers on their shirts for single payer health care. So obviously we didn’t get any food. It was around dinnertime. But also, I drove two hours with two of my friends to get there, and we never got into the meeting room, but we wouldn’t have wanted to anyway because it was a definite bunch of these anointed there.
RUSH: Wait a second. What’s interesting to me about this, you are going to a town meeting sponsored by an admitted avowed socialist in a state that is as close to a socialist state in this union as you can get, and they still had to stuff the room with union thugs?
CALLER: Apparently.
CALLER: And they were in this church and some of the people who were, as I say, swooning over him, I just happened to be right near him as he was going through the line, and I was walking behind him and they’re all saying things like, ‘Oh, you could give a sermon here, you’re just so wonderful, we love you, thank you, you’re going to save us,’ and I mean they were definitely in his camp.
RUSH: All right. So the purpose of the union thugs was to keep out any opponents. Still, what’s heartening to me here is that he feared opponents showing up. Let me tell you something. And look, I’m sounding like a broken record on all this and I don’t mean to, but the passion of people like you all over the country showing up genuine and real and they can’t stop it and they can’t duplicate it. They have fake passion, they are astroturfing, their people just don’t care about this as much as you care about opposing it, which is why Obama is going back to CIA interrogations and there might have been torture because he’s losing his base. And the Obama lunatic fringe base in a contest of what do they care more about: America as the world’s villain or a public option in health care, they care more about America being portrayed as the world’s villain. Obama more than eager to help ’em come along, so distract ’em, get ’em focused on torture, Bush, CIA, all these things that they hate, and they’ll forget Obama’s wavering here on the public option.
Helen in Jackson, Tennessee, welcome to the EIB Network. Hello.
CALLER: Yes, Rush. Happy to be with you.
RUSH: Thank you.
CALLER: I wanted to comment on the health care spending in the US, as the way a liberal Democrats size up the per capita health care spending as between five to $6,000 in this country —
RUSH: And now it’s $8,000 as of last week.
CALLER: Okay, roughly half of what they keep touting in France and other industrialized nations. Well, I still come back to that being a flat-out lie because if you strip out all of the illegal immigrant health care spending, all of the prescription drug R&D that we as US citizens absorb, that a lot of the other socialized nations around the world do not have to absorb, and if we took out all of the corruption and the fraud in Medicare and Medicaid, we’d probably be —
RUSH: But that’s a smoke screen. All of this is a smoke screen, because the Democrats are normally running around saying we’re not spending enough on welfare; we’re not spending enough on the poor; we’re not spending enough on the homeless; we need the money from defense. All of a sudden now we’re spending this much on health care, we’ve gotta cut costs, we’re just spending way too much? It’s disingenuous and to debate these people on the merits is to accept their premise and that’s to be fooled by it. Your points are right on the money. You can make the same arguments when people say that we’re number 34 in the world in health care. Well, yeah, well, they don’t count other nations at war losing soldiers like we do, for one thing.

RUSH: Butler, Pennsylvania. Hello, Todd. I’m glad you waited. Welcome to the EIB Network, sir.
CALLER: Hey mega dittos Rush from Butler, PA.
RUSH: Thank you.
CALLER: Thanks for taking my call.
RUSH: You bet.
CALLER: Hey, you know what? I went to a Specter town meeting about a week ago here and I had the opportunity to ask Specter a question. But while I was waiting in line here came two buses, school buses from around Pittsburgh and they brought up SEIU and ACORN people. As soon as they got off the bus the first thing they were chanting was, ‘What do we want? Health care! When do we want it? Now!’ over and over and over. Rush, this just shows the entitlist mentality of these people and, you know, I’ve got a buddy who works in the Navy. He has terminal cancer. He’s my age, 29 years old. He has two daughters, and he worked 60 to 70 hours a week on average and puts it out on the line for our country and provides for his family. That’s a selfless mentality, and these people that think they’re entitled to this health care and everything, they’re off in their sleep. We’re not entitled to it.
RUSH: Wait a minute, now. One thing.
CALLER: Yeah?
RUSH: You’re right that there are people in this country and way too many of them with an entitlement mentality, but the people that showed up on those buses were not people with an entitlement mentality. Those were part of Obama’s army. These are people recruited from a White House website by the unions to go out and provide opposition to the people with genuine passion. These buses were hired. These people were organized. This was community agitation at its best. This was not a bunch of entitlement people showing up demanding health care. This was a bunch of thugs that have been hired to show up to obstruct you and other people from getting your message out. Big difference. Not to say there aren’t people with the entitlement mentality but you gotta understand who these people are showing up in opposition to you. They’re only there because the Obama White House website’s ginning up this support, the unions ginning up the support. This is intimidation. This is community agitation, pure and simple.

RUSH: Kathy in Williamsville, New York, hello and welcome to the EIB Network. Hello.
CALLER: Hi, Rush. You know what? What I can’t understand is we have Marines and soldiers that are being blown up and facing down terrorists, and our politicians cannot even face an angry senior citizen? I just can’t even believe that. You know, in upstate New York where I’m from in western New York, we don’t even have one this entire summer, not one town hall meeting with one politician because our districts are so gerrymandered they don’t have to get our opinions, but we’re holding them without them.
RUSH: Yeah, but, you know what? You raise an excellent point. The reason they’re not showing up anyway is because they’re scared. They are scared to face you and they’re scared to face you because they know you know what you don’t want. They know that you know what’s in the bill, and they don’t know what’s in it, and they just don’t want the hassle. They are like an imperial Congress, a bunch of elitists. They only care about you, Kathy, when it’s election time. That’s when they care about you. That’s a great analogy, we’re sending people all over the world to face genuine life-threatening situations, and they don’t cancel, they don’t say we’re not going. Members of Congress can’t even show up and face an angry senior citizen without the White House and other people referring to average Americans as an unruly mob.
The outrage that’s happened over all it is is genuine, and it’s growing, and it’s going to continue to grow, and I don’t think the people in Washington have the slightest idea just to what degree you all are ticked off. The key for all of you is to maintain this passion, that’s what’s going to be tough through 2010. Because the moment they think you’re tiring out, the moment they think that you’ve said what you had to say, and there’s no more left to say, that’s when they’ll come gunning for this. The first moment they see you going timid. So you’re going to have to keep this up, the pressure is going to have to be on. And not just about this, cap and trade, the whole Obama agenda, the whole thing.
