RUSH: Just mind-boggling, as is this sound bite coming up. Our esteemed president is in Guadalajara, Mexico. He’s down there with the prime minister of Canada and the president of Mexico, Felipe
OBAMA: We are having a vigorous debate in the United States, and I think that’s a healthy thing. I’ve said that the — the Canadian model works for Canada, it would not work for the United States, in part simply because we’ve evolved differently. I suspect that you Canadians will continue to get dragged in by, uh, those who oppose reform, even though I’ve said nothing about Canadian health care reform. Uh, I don’t find Canadians particularly scary, but, I guess, uhh… (pauses)
REPORTERS: (silence)
OBAMA: Some of the opponents of, uh, (nervous laugh) reform think that they make a good bogeyman. Uh, I think that’s a mistake.
RUSH: I think what just happened here is that the president apologized to Canada for opponents of his health care slandering their health care. Is that what we just heard? We did just hear this, my friends. The president of the United States just apologized to Canada for you and all the rest of us who don’t like his health care system ’cause it’s too similar to Canada’s. (laughs)
