Obama on Malaria; Grandma’s Hut

RUSH: This morning via satellite, Obama was speaking at the Clinton Global Initiative.

OBAMA: If I can be helpful, then I am prepared to be anywhere, any time. If you need us, if I can be helpful, I am prepared to be there, uh, at any point. Eh, uh, you know, presidents are going to have to deal with more than one thing, uh, at a time. Uh, it’s not necessary for us to think that —

RUSH: Uh, uh, uh.

OBAMA: — uh, we can only do one thing, uh, and suspend everything else.

RUSH: Uh, yeah. Good. Cool. Whatever. If you need me, call me. Then this, at the same speech…

OBAMA: In Africa a child dies from a mosquito bite every 30 seconds — and, by the way, this is something I’ve seen personally. Uh, if you go to the village where my father grew up, where my grandmother still lives, uh, the toll of malaria remains throughout the region. And beyond the devastating human toll, malaria weighs down public health systems, setting back global capacity to fight other diseases.

RUSH: Hey, Obama, it’s called DDT! It’s called DDT and Rachel Carson banning it. If you get DDT back in there, you won’t have a problem. But here he’s talking about the hut where his grandmother lives. ‘If you go to the village where my father grew up, where my grandmother still lives…’ You know his relatives live in huts. So he’s been to Africa. We know that, and he’s seen people get malaria. But he didn’t apparently go see his brother, George Hussein Onyango Obama, living in the hut.
