RUSH: This is Melanie in Charlotte, North Carolina. Hi, Melanie. Welcome to the EIB Network.
CALLER: Thanks, Rush, for taking my call.
RUSH: Thank you.
CALLER: My family’s really enjoyed watching the Olympics over the last couple weeks, especially with the gold medal performances by the Americans and then watching them run around with flags draped around them. I just can’t imagine why anybody would want to follow that up with watching the Democratic National Convention, where you’re going to have whiners, excuse makers and they’re going to celebrate America’s flaws. I can’t imagine that that’s going to go over well with timing right after the Olympic games.
RUSH: You know, Melanie, this is a clever and shrewd observation of yours. One thing: The Olympics this time around turns out to be the most-watched television show ever, over that length of time.
CALLER: Right.
RUSH: I don’t think the Democrat convention is (laughing) going to get anywhere near that kind of audience.
CALLER: Right. And I wonder why that is. It’s because people don’t to want celebrate America’s flaws and shortcomings.
RUSH: Well, that is totally true, but that’s going to be a stark contrast. But the Democrats don’t think that’s what they’re going to be doing, see? They think they’re going to be telling people the truth about the country that all Americans agree that we’ve sunk low and we need pick it up — and they’re wrong about that.
