RUSH: Let’s go Dallas. This is Patty. Patty, welcome to the EIB Network. Hello.

CALLER: Hi, Rush. I am really upset today, Rush, with you. I think you’re trying to get Hillary elected, and I — I never use the word ‘hate,’ but I hate this woman. She thinks she is owed the presidency, and you’re telling the superdelegates to go for Hillary. I don’t understand. I don’t understand why you’re not in North Carolina and Indiana, having Operation Chaos go to Obama.

RUSH: Because that would not serve the strategical purposes of Operation Chaos. Let me run a little pop quiz. I’m not trying to put you on the spot here, but it would help me to answer your question if you could answer this one question for me.

CALLER: Okay.

RUSH: What is the stated objective and purpose of Operation Chaos?

CALLER: Well, so they’ll go to the convention and beat up on each other.

RUSH: It is to sustain the primary through the convention by whatever means.

CALLER: Okay.

RUSH: Operation Chaos is not about who wins the Democrat primary, because we understand our limitations here.

CALLER: Okay.

RUSH: We are about extending this and causing such chaos that neither of them could win the general when that day comes in November.

CALLER: But, Rush?

RUSH: And the purpose of Operation Chaos was specifically… At the outset, this is crucially important, and then you can make the point that you want to make to me.

CALLER: Okay.

RUSH: But this is crucial, crucially important. These two candidates were both getting a free ride, and our party, and our nominee; have made it clear that they were not going to be critical of these two candidates, particularly Obama. McCain has made that abundantly clear with his criticism and insulting of the North Carolina Republican Party. So the theory behind Operation Chaos was, Obama needs to be bloodied up politically, and who better than the Clintons to do it? This has happened. We need the infighting and the controversy to continue for as long as possible. And at this point, that means that Mrs. Clinton’s got to stay close in the pledged delegates.

CALLER: But, Rush, don’t you think…? I understood yesterday (coughs). I’m not sure which cable news I was watching, that Clinton’s getting awful close and that she can overtake Obama?

RUSH: She can’t, neither of them can win. See, this is our insurance, safety, or whatever. Neither of them can win via pledged delegates. Neither of them can win via the primary process.

CALLER: Okay.

RUSH: This is ideal. It is going to take the superdelegates committing political murder against one of them.

CALLER: But — but, Rush, I mean you never talk about Hillary anymore. You just talk about Obama, and I just want to tell you, if Hillary and Bill get back in that White House, I… I… They’re both… I mean, I cannot tell you how much I hate them. I can’t. And I —

RUSH: We’re doing —

CALLER: — would much rather see Obama be defeated by McCain than Hillary, and Hillary might win.

RUSH: Yeah, I understand, believe me. I share many of your emotions.

CALLER: Okay.

RUSH: We’re doing our best here at Operation Chaos to do what the Republican Party should be doing and won’t do.

CALLER: I know. They’re awful, Rush.

RUSH: And that’s see to it that whoever these people nominate loses, all right?

CALLER: Yeah.

RUSH: It’s just that simple. Now, I can understand you being very upset at my heartfelt advice to the Democrat superdelegates.

CALLER: Right.

RUSH: I’m sure that bothered you.

CALLER: Yes it did.

RUSH: Trust your commander-in-chief.

CALLER: All right.

RUSH: All right?

CALLER: I do trust you, and I love you to death, Rush. But today it’s been like, ‘Oh, my gosh!’ My anxiety level is as high as it can be.

RUSH: Oh, that’s terribly unfortunate. This has been a fabulous broadcast day. This has been double doses of fun. This has been outright hilarious today.

CALLER: Are you ever going to tell ’em to go vote for Obama in any of these states?

RUSH: Look, it’s entirely possible.

CALLER: Or are you going to just let Hillary ride right through?

RUSH: It’s entirely possible.

CALLER: But, Rush! She —

RUSH: That’s why I called an operational pause yesterday, because if I had seen that the Drive-Bys were going to be dumping all over Obama last night and talking about how his candidacy is ‘irreparably damaged’ and he’s got a huge problem, then I would have issued new orders today for Indiana and North Carolina.

CALLER: Okay.

RUSH: But it’s not necessary. It’s not necessary yet.

CALLER: All right, well, Karl Rove seems to think that Hillary can catch up and get ahead of him. So I just was hoping that you maybe would talk a little bit about Hillary again.

RUSH: Well, give us… Look, we have 15 hours in the broadcast week.

CALLER: Okay!

RUSH: And you gotta listen to all of them to hear everything.

CALLER: I do. I do. I walk my dog while I listen to you, and I love it.

RUSH: Well, be patient out there. We love you being out there. Thanks very much, Patty. Let’s see. Let’s go to York, Maine. This is Herb, and you’re next on the EIB Network. Hello.

CALLER: Hello, Rush. I’m kind of disappointed in ya.

RUSH: Join the club. (laughing) I have made a lot of people mad here at the bottom of the hour, the way I treated that woman. I’m just teasing. It sounded rude. I’ve apologized for that. I hope that’s not what’s upset you.

CALLER: Well, no. That, along with, to me, your ego is getting up too high.

RUSH: My ego is getting up too high? Oh. Too high, too big.

CALLER: Yeah, that’s right.

RUSH: No, my head is still attached. If my ego were too big, my skull would have split open, and it’s still intact.

CALLER: (laughs) Well, I think you just enjoy it when some Drive-By or something mentions your name, and, boy, you seem to be thriving on that.

RUSH: No, I’m not.

CALLER: That’s not the way that you used to be.

RUSH: You mean when I play these audio sound bites on the TV networks and when I read the newspaper stories about this?

CALLER: Yeah.

RUSH: I’m glad you mentioned that. It’s not about me. Look, you’re going to make me answer that. I’m going to have to give away something. Do you understand what’s happening here, from this is validation? For those of you that listen to this program and for me, the one who hosts it; what we are doing here has got them all screwed up out there. This is important for the morale of our operatives in Operation Chaos. They have to see success stories. We can’t sit here and keep that from them, even though we might like to keep as much information classified as possible. Troop morale? I understand that better than anyone. They have to know it’s working. This isn’t about me. This isn’t about my ego. It’s about success! It’s about the success of the operation. It’s about how our battle plans have not yet been thwarted. Do you understand what’s happening here, Herb? We have openly explained in detail every aspect of our battle plan, and they still can’t stop it. It is the Democrats who are meeting in clandestine fashion trying to come up with a solution to their problem, and the problem brought on by us: me and Operation Chaos. You’ll never find a commander more concerned about troop morale than I.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Ladies and gentlemen, do you think members of the Seventh Army in World War II would dare go to George Patton and say, ‘Sir, this operation in Sicily, it’s just about your ego, sir.’ Do you think they would question General Patton and his motivation and his loyalty, his patriotism to the cause, by chalking it up to his ego? Why do it to me? I want troop morale. I want people loving this. I want them understanding the ribald success, the overwhelming success we’re having. I want them to stay motivated — and I don’t want anybody questioning orders! That is not ego. There has to be one leader, and we don’t lead by consensus, like they do global warming in science. We lead by expertise and confidence and the old Winston Churchill adage: We never quit.
