Now, thisnews item concerns the Northeast, but it has implications for all of us.New Jersey Democrats are considering new taxesvia new tolls on Interstate highways that, up to this point, have always been toll-free (they already have a turnpike).
The plan, which hasn’t yet made it to the legislature, has — of course –attracted the interest of the Democrat governor, Jon Corzine, who has raised taxes repeatedly.Imposing new tolls is a “legitimate alternative that needs to be studied,” he says. (“Studied” my rear end with a rubber stamp on it!) Some Democrats are urging that new tollbooths target drivers from blue-state neighbor, Pennsylvania. All this talk of additional new tolls has alarmed business owners and motorists, but the legislators say that they’re out ofmoney, andthis will provide them with new money to spend.
Here’s the point. Usually in an election year, liberal Democrats hide their true intentions from voters — but not this year! On the federal level, boththe Democrats running for president have already promised massive tax increasesto pay formassive government expansions. Democrats in Congress are promising massive domestic spending increases, and on the state and local level –as in New Jersey –Democrats are openly planning tax increaseswith brazen confidence.
So when the Democrats run on “hope” and “change” or their “experience”, remember this: Liberals are experienced tax raisers who hope that you’ll justbend over, grab the ankles, and take whatever they dish out. The only change you can expect is to pay morefor their plans and dreams –not yours. (And that’s not even a surprise anymore.)
