RUSH: Melody in Albuquerque, New Mexico, great to have you on the program.
CALLER: Hi, Rush. I’m glad to speak with you. I’m a Rush Baby. My dad was the first caller from Albuquerque, and some of my best memories are sitting in the car listening to you with my dad eating pizza.
RUSH: Wow.
CALLER: And I just wanted to thank you for those memories and now I’m a college student and every day before I go to class, I listen to you to prepare myself to go against my liberal teacher and my liberal classmates, and being the only vocal conservative in my class, I speak out every day and tell them what’s right and try to get these students to stop listening and just eating up and accepting everything these teachers tell them as fact. I have been called Ann Coulter in my class, and I said, ‘Thank you.’ And my class was —
CALLER: Yes. My class was asked to identify a Republican, the only Republican they could think of was you. So that’s just how much you are getting out there and bugging the liberals. And my teacher just got so upset, and he tried to discredit you, and I said, ‘Hey, I’m a dittohead,’ and I just started sticking up for you, and he was trying to go back to your days as a disc jockey, and I just kept coming up with stuff because my dad has talked about you, and I’ve listened to you, and I know about you. And I just wanted to thank you, and my teacher, every time I would come up against him and tried to say, ‘No, that’s not right, you need to look at your sources,’ because he uses such old information. He would say, ‘What are your sources, and you have to start citing them,’ so I started a whole binder on everything from global warming to Iraq to Iran, and I have so many things from you and I go to your show and take your information and then I go and Google it and I find the papers and the documents and I bring them back to class, and I show my teacher, and he gets so upset, and I just love it, and everybody in my class gets angry, and I’ve been called some of the worst names, but —
RUSH: They get mad at you?
CALLER: Oh, yes.
RUSH: That’s because you’re far more informed than they are and you’re making them look bad.
CALLER: Exactly. I said, you can’t fight with logic. It’s not my fault that you guys aren’t logical. I mean it’s so logical to be a conservative. And you have driven me to stand up for America. I’m going to be a history teacher. And I hope that I can pass my ideology on to other students and get them to question all these other teachers, because almost every single teacher I’ve ever had has been a liberal. I mean I get questions like, ‘Who lost the war in Iraq?’ How can you lose a war that is not over, you know? It’s just ridiculous.
RUSH: Well, you know what, you’ve got me standing up here theoretically, I can’t stand because the microphone doesn’t go with me, but I’d stand up and cheer you if I could, and I know a lot of people out there egging you on because this is the kind of passion and enthusiasm and love for the country that people just love hearing. And the fact that you want to go into the education system, try to take some young skulls full of mush and orient them in the right direction is honorable and admirable.
CALLER: Thank you so much. It’s just gonna be a dangerous battle for me.
RUSH: Well, you know what? It’s going to be a dangerous battle for you, but you’re armed for it already.
CALLER: I am.
RUSH: You’ve got the passion for it. You know, desire is 80% of achievement.
CALLER: Because of you and my father.
RUSH: Well, whatever the reason, you’ve got it. You know, and desire is 80% of achievement. Because it’s that desire that will force you to do everything you have to to get it done. Get educated as you’re doing, working hard and so forth and so on. So it sounds like you found your passion. And I hope it never leaves you.
CALLER: Thank you so much, Rush.
RUSH: Thank you for the call.
