I’m sure you recall that Congressman William Jefferson — Democrat, Louisiana — used a National Guard escort to retrieve unknown items from his house, while much of New Orleans was flooded out.
You’ll recall that William Jefferson — Democrat, Louisiana — had $90,000 in cash stuffed in his freezer, part of what the FBI says was a $100,000 bribe. You’ll remember William Jefferson — Democrat, Louisiana — was recently indicted on 16 criminal counts, including obstruction of justice, money laundering, and racketeering for “facilitating” a telecommunications company’s African government contracts. And you’ll recall the howls of protest from Congress-types when the FBI raided the congressional office of William Jefferson — Democrat, Louisiana — because the “sanctuary” of a member of Congress had been violated.
Well, three judges from the D.C. Court of Appeals have ruled that although the FBI raid was constitutional, the FBI violated the Democrat Congressman’s rights when they viewed all the records in his orifice, some having to do with legistlation. Whether the government can use those records at trial is yet to be determined.
Meanwhile. A House ethics committee has suspended its investigation of William Jefferson — Democrat, Louisiana — supposedly because the Justice Department fears it might “complicate or impede” the ongoing criminal investigation.
Meanwhile. The Democrat Party, poll numbers sucking sewer mud, are running a new ad campaign, praising themselves for doing nothing. “It’s Democrats, making a difference, doing the job they were elected to do,” the ad says. What difference have they made? Perhaps we should ask Congressman William Jefferson. Democrat. Louisiana.
