Kerry whipped out a pathetically pandering line, saying, “I’m fascinated by rap and by hip-hop. I think there’s a lot of poetry in it. There’s a lot of anger, a lot of social energy in it, and I think you better listen to it pretty carefully because there’s — it’s important.” Just gag me with a spoon and end this! This is maximum pandering. It was a Sister Souljah moment that blew up. I mean, poetry? Quote some for us, senator.
Can’t you just see old J. F. Kerry and Teresa Heinz riding around in the Range Rover at one of their mansions with hip-hop playing? You really think Eminem is in their CD player right now? I mean, it’s one thing to say you like it, but to try to pass this off as something that you’ve intellectually examined and have assigned value to? Kerry also said he doesn?t like heavy metal, but I bet that it’s probably his anthem from the Vietnam era he’s stuck in.
