Algore 2000: Different Algore, Different Speech

by Rush Limbaugh - Sep 24,2002

More: “Despite our swift victory and all our efforts since, there is no doubt in my mind that Saddam Hussein still seeks to amass weapons of mass destruction. You know as well as I do: as long as Saddam Hussein stays in power, there can be no comprehensive peace for the people of Israel or the people of the Middle East. We have made it clear that it is our policy to see Saddam Hussein gone.”
Algore has flipped. On the other hand, Bush is doing exactly what he said he’d do in the campaign trail – as we proved with a story on Dub’s Iraq policy from June 3, 2000’s Washington Post. This kind of waffling is why, “some Gore supporters are even privately expressing satisfaction that Mr. Gore did not win,” as Richard L. Berke wrote in the New York Times on October 20, 2001. I read to you from both of these articles, as you can hear in the audio link below.
Was this hawkish Algore a fake? Well, he did spread his wings in May of 2000 ? the middle of the presidential campaign! Ah, I see now. When Albert Arnold Algore Jr. is running for office, Hussein has to go, and we must continue Bill Clinton’s policy to wipe out Hussein and Iran’s ayatollahs because Israel cannot exist peacefully as long as those terrorists nearby. But the rhetoric comes with a clause Algore left out of his speech: What I’m saying is totally invalidated if my opponent wins.
