RUSH: Yeah, let me get this out of the way. This Pelosi stuff bores me because none of this is a surprise. You know, Pelosi had a press conference today, and everybody was expecting more fireworks about the fact that she says the CIA is lying to her. I had all kinds of people e-mailing me, ‘When are we going to get rid of Pelosi?’ Never! There’s no mechanism to get rid of Pelosi. You can have all the letters of opposition. You can say she should resign. She’s not going to resign. The Democrats aren’t going to do anything about it. We got a pliant media here that’s not going to press the situation. She told the press she didn’t want any more questions on it today and they said, ‘Oh! Okay.’ What do you expect, folks?

I mean it’s the world in which we live. If George W. Bush had said, ‘I don’t want any more questions on that,’ (snorts) they would have peppered him with more questions; we’d have editorials for a week on how he’s stiffing the press. Here’s the sound bite in question after she did the press conference and did the Q&A. A reporter said, ‘Since last week, when you knew when and your comments about misleading, being mislead by the CIA have been, big, big news. But Leader Boehner has said produce evidence that you were misled or apologize. CIA Director Panetta has said that, you know, the CIA’s not in the practice of misleading Congress.’

PELOSI: I have made the statement that I’m going to make on this. I don’t have anything more to say about it. I stand by my comment, and what we are doing is stay on our course and not be — uh, eh, err — distracted from it going forward in a bipartisan way for jobs, health care, energy for our country and — and — and that on the subject that you asked I’ve made the statement that I’m going to make. I won’t have anything more to say about it.

REPORTERS: (shouting questions)

PELOSI: I won’t have anything more to say about it!

REPORTER: Madam Speaker —

PELOSI: Another subject.

RUSH: Nothing more to say. Another subject. That’s it. They all back down. ‘Okay, you don’t want any more questions? We’ll obey. We’ll dutifully obey.’ This was the only Q&A on the subject. Let’s go back. This is May 14th, 2009. This is what she says today is her last words on the subject.

PELOSI: So, my statement is clear, and let me read it again. Let me read it again. I’m sorry, I have to find the page. I was informed at, uh, uh — that Department of Justice opinions had concluded that the use of enhanced interrogations was legal. The only mention of waterboarding was that the briefing — in the briefing was that it was not being employed when my staff person — (shuffling pages) I’m sorry, I had the pages out of order. (shuffling pages) Five months later, my staff person told me that there had been a briefing — informed me that there had been a briefing —

RUSH: This is so much —

PELOSI: and that a letter had been sent. I was not —

RUSH: This is just absurd.

PELOSI: — briefed on what was in that briefing.

RUSH: This is all just a crock.

PELOSI: I was just informed that the briefing had taken place.

RUSH: This is just a waste. It’s a waste of busy broadcast time. Here’s all that happened here. This is why she lied repeatedly about what she knew about waterboarding. She wanted this whole thing as a political issue back when Bush was in office, and now that it’s a political issue that’s boomeranged on her, she doesn’t want to talk about it anymore. Here’s one more bite. This is continued worthless BS.

PELOSI: Misleading the Congress of the United States.

REPORTER: And also —

PELOSI: Misleading the Congress of the United States! Yes, I am saying that they are misleading, that the, uh, er, CIA was misleading the Congress. And at the same time the administration was misleading the Congress on the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, to which I said — uh, uh, uh — the intelligence does not support the imminent threat to which the press asked the same question you just did now: ‘Are you accusing them of lying?’ I said I’m just stating a fact.

RUSH: Getting rid of her is not going to happen. We don’t want her to go anywhere anyway. This woman is one of the best faces of the Democrats we could have.
