RUSH: Hi, Denise. How are you?
CALLER: I’m fine. How are you?
RUSH: Never better.
CALLER: Good. (chuckles) I’m just calling because I’m saying, ‘Are you serious about this statement by Clark?’ Like, no one cares about what people are saying about McCain or Obama? (giggles) We are suffering as American people.
RUSH: Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. I might have missed something here. Nobody cares about McCain or Obama?
CALLER: No, what… Nobody is saying what (whispering) Nobody is — Nobody cares about what they’re saying about McCain or Obama. This is what I’m saying.
RUSH: Wait a minute. Nobody…? You mean nobody cares who the next president is going to be?
CALLER: No. That’s not what I said. I said, ‘Nobody is caring what people are saying about McCain or Obama.’ People are interested in who’s going to be the next president.
RUSH: Look, if nobody cares —
CALLER: So — so — so what I’m saying is nobody cares about these little statements people are saying. Nobody cares about that as American people. We’re suffering as American people. People are losing their jobs.
RUSH: You know, my problem here is, ladies and gentlemen, I’m a literalist, and Denise here is speaking, uh, ‘female’ to me. I don’t speak female.
CALLER: Well, it — it — it doesn’t matter how you think I’m speaking, because —
RUSH: No.
CALLER: — it’s the point of what I’m saying is —
RUSH: No! (sigh)
CALLER: — and I’m going to get my point across — (garbled).
RUSH: I hope so.
CALLER: I think that you’re spinning. You need spend less energy on what people are saying about each other in this (garbled). Let’s speak to the politics of each candidate. What politics of candidates work to your advantage? That is the ideal independent.
RUSH: Well, it’s… (sigh) Heh, heh, heh.
CALLER: I’m just saying. I’m just saying.
RUSH: Yes.
CALLER: Now you’re saying… Now you’re doing the sexist female.
RUSH: No, I’m not doing the sexist — like I don’t —
CALLER: I’m just saying.
RUSH: I don’t speak ‘cat,’ either.
CALLER: Well, I’m just — I’m just saying. This is what I’m saying.
RUSH: Denise, I really want to understand what you’re saying. My problem is, I’m telling you I’m a logical, literalist, and what you’re saying is nobody should pay attention to what people like Wesley Clark or anybody else is saying about Barack or —
CALLER: Let’s stick to — let’s stick to — let’s stick to the politics.
RUSH: Let me finish!
CALLER: That’s what I’m saying. It’s not about all this. We are suffering as American people, and this is what I’m saying. It doesn’t matter.
RUSH: Um, I’ll try again. What I hear you saying is that nobody… Maybe I should start, ‘Because the American people are suffering, because there’s real pain and hurt and suffering in America, that nobody should pay attention to what anybody says about Barack Obama or John McCain?’ Is that right?
CALLER: Okay, well, all I’m just saying is, you know, I’ve covered this —
RUSH: (sighing)
CALLER: — and I’m an independent, and I’m looking —
RUSH: (laughing)
CALLER: — and I’m looking and I’m seeing, which candidate I’m going to vote for, because I do need a president that’s going to do something.
RUSH: Yeah, you do. No, no, you don’t need a president.
CALLER: Okay, we could —
RUSH: If you think you need a president we’re in deep doo-doo. But bottom line is this. You’re going to vote for whoever you’re going to vote for but nobody is supposed to talk about them! We’re not supposed to react to what anybody says about them, which follows then we’re not supposed to talk about them ourselves.
CALLER: No, because you guys are reacting. You’re reacting as the media. You’re reacting. You reacted a whole lot.
RUSH: Oh! Oh! Oh!
CALLER: So now you want to say (chuckles)
RUSH: I think now you have reached me. I think now you are suggesting that reacting to what the media reports say about Wesley Clark saying about McCain is a waste of time, because nobody cares about Wesley Clark.
CALLER: Nobody is saying anything about the statement of Clark.
RUSH: (groans)
CALLER: This is what I’m saying. It’s not important. We’re suffering as American people, and this is all I’m saying.
RUSH: Yeah.
CALLER: So let’s stick to — let’s stick to the policies of each person. I haven’t heard you say anything about these policies so I can vote —
RUSH: Oh, come on, now. Don’t start with me on that, Denise.
CALLER: — so that I can vote for the right candidate, right?
RUSH: Denise? You want to know who to vote for?
CALLER: No, I know who you going to say I’m going to vote for, but I’m saying give me the policies. Give me the policies is all I can say.
RUSH: I have! I do it every day on this program. We can’t afford Barack Obama. You’re already suffering. You want to suffer some more, vote Obama. You want to suffer financially even more, vote Obama.
CALLER: So, so, so you think —
RUSH: I do discuss the policies. There’s no question about it. But in discussing what people say? This is a campaign, and the Obama people are trying to destroy McCain. It is not irrelevant what Obama’s little hack surrogates are saying. It is not irrelevant whatsoever. The idea that we’re suffering? Yeah, I know. But this is all part of the mix. This is… This is… Well, I don’t want to get sexist here. If I say what I’m going to say, people are going to think it’s just a sexist reaction. It’s not a sexist reaction. It’s just men and women’s brains are different, and they just hear things differently. I just don’t want all this confrontation. I just don’t want all this, ‘Can’t we stick to the issues? Can’t we just get along? Can we just be nice to each other.’ I admit that one of us is going to lose and be happy about it and move on. Can we just do that? Do we have to have all these arguments all the time? Can I just turn on the TV and have it work rather than understanding how?
Can I just elect a president without understanding what he’s going to do? Can’t we just do this so we have as little consternation as possible ’cause we’re suffering out here? I don’t mean that as a sexist comment, but frankly, it’s why the soccer mom phenomenon works. It’s why the NASCAR mom thing works. It’s why the liberals continually, every election, try to identify a certain middle-, upper-middle-class female archetype and suggest that she will be the primary beneficiary of Democrat policies because she’s suffering, too, and her own husband doesn’t care. Bill Clinton loved those soccer moms more than their own husbands. He understood the challenges of their lives, getting ’em dressed, fixing breakfast, taking ’em to school, picking ’em up, going to soccer practice — and the whole while driving a gas-guzzling SUV and feeling guilty as sin about it. Somebody had to help these women, was the Democrats that were going to do it. It’s the same thing now.
