RUSH: How do we synthesize this? Well, try this: In the midst of the presidential campaign, Barack Obama is spending hundreds of millions of dollars on commercials trying to convince people that he is the man of the middle class. He’s Mr. Roads and Bridges! (impression) “You didn’t build that! The people that built the roads and bridges, they’re the ones that make your factory bustle!” And here’s the guy, in the 2007 tape, saying he doesn’t want to build any roads in the suburbs.
Mr. Roads and Bridges himself wants no roads in the suburbs anymore. He doesn’t like you people in the suburbs. It’s not me saying it; he said it. He doesn’t like the fact you’ve fled the cities. You left the po’ behind, the po’ behind. They got the dilapidated schools and you’ve sought a better life and you left the po’ behind and you don’t care. Obama does, though. And his whole ad campaign now is that he’s the man of everybody.
He’s the man of 100% of the people!
He’s postpartisan. He’s postracial. He’s a messiah! He’s spending all they money in his ad campaign trying to at once people that he is the man of the middle class; that it is Mitt Romney who lives in a small, cloistered world of the 1% who doesn’t hug his garbage man. He’s got an ad! Obama’s running an ad from Romney’s garbage man saying Romney never hugged him and Romney doesn’t care about garbage people. That’s how cloistered Romney’s world is.
Never mind the fact that Romney, when he was governor, actually did collect garbage for a day to find out what those people do. I don’t think Obama’s ever collected garbage, has he? That’s the whole point. Obama wants you to think he’s the man of the middle. He has had the trials and tribulations. He’s experienced all the rotgut crap that this country presents to everybody, and he gonna make sure that everybody has to experience that crap; that there isn’t gonna be a 1% that doesn’t have to experience it.
Not anymore!
“We’re gonna spread crap equally and we’re gonna call it Fair Crap. That’s how you have a just society, when everybody has to go through the same crap. We’re not gonna have people that don’t have to experience the same crap. We’re gonna make sure everybody does. It’s Romney who is the cloistered elitist, writing-off-half-the-country. Mitt Romney.” Well, I’m sorry, but this 2007 video that Chatsworth Osborne Jr. released undercuts all of that.
It is Obama who is cloistered with his people.
It is Obama who is writing off half the country — and with resentment, I might add. That’s kind of interesting that Obama is trying to make people think that it’s Romney who actually looks at the world as Obama really does. We all knew this! But he’s saying it out of his mouth here. Attacking the suburbs? Here’s Mr. Roads and Bridges, who doesn’t want to build any bridges to the suburbs.
In fact, what is that sound bite? It’s number 11. Let’s go back and play number 11 again. This is Obama attacking the suburbs. I want you to remember, now, this is Mr. Roads and Bridges. The stimulus was to build roads and bridges, and ever since roads and bridges have been the key. If you don’t have a road and bridge in front of your property, you’ll never amount to anything.
You’ve only succeeded because other people built roads and bridges for you to build your factory where you can exploit people, which is what Obama think businesses do. So listen to sound bite number 11 here again. This from 2007, the Hamptons, Virginia, tape. You keep in mind all the references you remember Obama making about wanting shovel-ready jobs, roads and bridges.
OBAMA 2007: We need additional federal public transportation dollars flowin’ to highest need communities. We don’t need to build more highways out in the suburbs if we have people in the cities right now who want to work but have no way to get into those jobs! We’ve gotta help connect them to the jobs that exist. We should be investing in minority-owned businesses in our neighborhoods so people don’t have to travel from miles away.
RUSH: Yeah, we don’t need any roads now. We didn’t need any roads in 2007. This roads and bridges business is phony as it’s always been. There’s another video that Patterico’s Pontifications, Patterico.com, has uncovered. They’ve released a video of State Senator Barack Obama from Illinois. This is January 21st, 2002 in Chicago at the University of Chicago’s Rockefeller Memorial Chapel. This is during Martin Luther King Jr. day memorial services.
OBAMA 2002 (garbled audio): I donÂ’t know if youÂ’ve noticed, but rich people are all for nonviolence.
AUDIENCE: (laughter)
OBAMA 2002: Why wouldnÂ’t they be? TheyÂ’ve got what they want!
AUDIENCE: (applause and laughter)
OBAMA 2002: They want to make sure people don’t take their stuff. But the principle of empathy recognizes —
RUSH: All right. Kill it, kill it, kill it. With all that god reverb, you can’t understand. I’ll read to you what he’s saying: “I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but rich people are all for nonviolence. Why wouldnÂ’t they be? TheyÂ’ve got what they want. They want to make sure people donÂ’t take their stuff. But the principle of empathy recognizes that there are more subtle forms of violence to which we are answerable.
“The spirit of empathy condemns not only the use of fire hoses and attack dogs to keep people down but also accountants and tax loopholes to keep people down. … When a company town sees its plant closing because some distant executives made some decision despite the wage concessions, despite the tax breaks, and they see their entire economy collapsing, they feel violence…”
This is Obama ten years ago. He hasn’t changed, is the point. This is who he is! The rich, of course, they’re all for nonviolence. They don’t like community organizers. They don’t like people raising hell in the streets. They don’t like violence. They got their stuff. They got what they want. They just want to make sure that folks don’t take their stuff. By the way, that’s why Bill Gates and Warren Buffett run around and claim they’re for tax increases.
So that these “rabble” in the streets don’t want to take their stuff.
That’s why they do it. Yeah, people ask me all the time, “How can these rich liberals…?” Because everybody assumes that a rich person has to be conservative, a rich person has to be self-reliant, a rich person has to believe in entrepreneurism and all the things that go along with acquiring wealth. And when they hear these real super-rich guys talk about raising taxes, being in favor of it, they scratch their heads and say, “Why?”
It’s because of what Obama’s saying here: “[R]ich people are all for nonviolence. Why wouldn’t they be? They’ve got what they want. They want to make sure folks don’t take their stuff.” (chuckles) Exactly right. So, “rich people are for nonviolence. … They have all that they want.” This is anger, folks. This is Barack Obama selling seething anger. This is Barack Obama ginning up resentment of successful people.
And he’s gonna stand up on a stage tonight debating a guy who stands for everything he hates. Mitt Romney personifies everything Obama hates. Romney is a rich guy. He doesn’t like violence. He doesn’t want anybody taking his stuff. All of this is precisely who Obama is.
