RUSH: Folks, the Syria news today — it was bad yesterday. It was embarrassing yesterday. Today the whole world is laughing at us, and I am not kidding. Even liberals. Even these wacko Looney Tunes pajama-clad website posters, these progressives, as they call themselves. These people think Obama and Kerry are lying to ’em. They don’t want another war. They don’t want a single missile launched ever. They think they’re being lied to.

I mean, Obama doesn’t even have his base on this. And according to whip counts and head counts right now, it looks like Obama’s request for a congressional authorization for the use of force in the Syria isn’t going to pass the House, after all, thanks to those obstreperous Republicans. Now, for those of you in Rio Linda, that means stubborn. So everything is going according to plan. Once again Obama will be able to blame the evil House Republicans for all of the nerve gas damage that’s taking place in Syria.

Now, you know, Vladimir Putin is saying that Obama and Kerry are lying. And I don’t know about you, but I find myself to be in a really curious situation. Who do I believe, Vladimir Putin or Barack Obama and John Kerry? See, this may be a little tough to hear, but I know that John Kerry lies about things. I know that Barack Obama big time misrepresents things. That’s what the whole Limbaugh Theorem is. I know liberals lie as a matter of course. They have to. We know that they lied about Benghazi and the stupid video. So here they’re telling us one thing, and Putin says, “No, no, no, no, it’s just the exact opposite.”

Russia says they have compiled a 100-page report blaming the Syrian rebels for the chemical weapons attack, not Assad, just as we reported on this program on Tuesday. A 100-page report. Now, I don’t know about you, but what does it feel like to have to agree with a former KGB agent? “The Russian statement warned the United States and its allies –” which, in this case, is France “– not to conduct a military strike against Syria until the United Nations had completed a similarly detailed scientific study into the August 21st attack.” Russia’s done their own. It’s a 100-page report. Russia has found that the Syrian rebels did the attack.

Now, if you think, “Yeah, come on, Rush, don’t fall for this. I mean, this is Putin. This is Russia.” I know. But the New York Times, which is Obama’s Bible, the New York Times: “Brutality of Syrian Rebels Posing Dilemma in West.” You see, the regime has tried once again to portray the rebels in Syria, the enemies of Bashar Assad, as innocent, harmless men, women and children being forced out of their homes, wandering aimless in the Syrian desert. Don’t have any guns; don’t have any weapons; don’t have anything; don’t have any food; don’t have any water; don’t have any nurse;, don’t have any doctors. This is the picture, the rebels, the anti-Assad forces, people, I mean, they are God’s gift.

And even the New York Times: “The Syrian rebels posed casually, standing over their prisoners with firearms pointed down at the shirtless and terrified men. The prisoners, seven in all, were captured Syrian soldiers.” It goes on to talk about how the Syrian rebels are a bunch of real bad guys. Criminals, thugs, lawless, not the picture of innocence. And so the New York Times is casting doubt on this whole thing as to who is responsible for launching or firing off chemical weapons. We have Putin calling Kerry a liar.

In TheHill.com, get this headline: “Obama Struggles to Convince Congress Syria IsnÂ’t About Him.” Good Lord. Exactly as I think we mentioned on this program last week and this, that no matter what, it’s all about Obama. How will what we do or don’t do in Syria affect Obama? How will it affect the 2014 midterms? How will it affect Obama’s legacy, all of that. Hill.com: “Obama Struggles to Convince Congress Syria IsnÂ’t About Him — President Obama is struggling to convince lawmakers, foreign leaders and the public that military action in Syria isnÂ’t about him.” That’s hard to do. Because the entire last five years have been nothing but being all about Obama. And now Vladimir Putin is calling John Kerry a liar.

Let me posit something here. Do you think that it might be playing right into Putin’s hands to put John Kerry in the position of war hawk? I mean, what is Kerry known for? Kerry is known for making things up and dissenting about Vietnam. He’s known as an anti-war protester. He’s known as somebody who believes the worst about the US military. He believed and testified about supposed atrocities committed by our Vietnam War military.

When he was told that Marines in Iraq had raped and terrorized and killed women and children, he believed that! John Kerry is not known as a hawk. The closest John Kerry ever got to a hawk is when he retook Boston Harbor, heading into the third night of his convention. Remember that? They had some swift boat vets, the ones that had not bailed on him, and they got on board some yacht, and they sailed across Boston Harbor to the convention hall — with Kerry at the front of the yacht like he’s commander.

Master and commander of the southern seas or whatever.

That’s the only time Kerry appeared like a hawk. So Obama has put John Kerry, one of the biggest doves and one of the biggest anti-war members of the US government, in charge of selling military action in Syria and being in favor of it! The biggest dove in the world! He’s the biggest anti-war, the biggest anti-military person that Obama could find, John Kerry, and he put him in there. Do you think putting Kerry in this position plays right into Putin’s hands?

Putin can call Kerry a liar, and there’s history.

Putin can call Kerry a liar from day to day and have evidence for it.

The thing is, Putin’s a liar, too. Everybody in this play is a liar! So all that’s left is to figure them both and try to piece together facts, and are there any facts? Do facts come from the Al-Qaeda rebels? Do they come from the Russians? Would anybody believe the UN? You know, Obama lied about the stimulus bill, he lied about Obamacare, he lied about the IRS, he lied about Fast and Furious, he lied about Benghazi.

We’ve got the sound bite coming up. We had a member of Congress actually ask Kerry about Benghazi and Fast and Furious, and Kerry just lost it! Oh, it’s gonna be great when we get to these sound bites. So which liar are we supposed to believe here? The only person in the past month who’s been honest about what he was doing was a rodeo clown in Missouri.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Let me grab a quick phone call here, late in the first hour. Even though it’s not Open Line Friday, we’ll start in the first hour on the phones with Dusty in Charleston, West Virginia. Great to have you on the program. Hello, sir.

CALLER: Hey, thanks for taking my call, Rush.

RUSH: You bet.

CALLER: I was calling to make a point about Syria, that in just a matter of days we know everything about what happened. We know it was Assad, what chemical weapons he used, exactly how many people were killed, where and when it happened. But when it comes to our own debacles — what happened in Benghazi, with the IRS, Fast and Furious — months coming up on years now have passed, and we still don’t know exactly what happened.

RUSH: That is an excellent point. We can get all the dirt on Bashar Assad we want. We can get all the information on the rebels we want, we can get all the information on Putin we want, and we can blab it to the world. But when it comes to the anything about Obama and our own country and our own administration and our own administration’s actions in various events, we don’t know.

CALLER: Mmm-hmm.

RUSH: It’s an excellent point. Dusty, thanks.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: And we go to the Midland Park, New Jersey, heading back to the phones, as promised. Dave, it’s great to have you on the EIB Network. Hello, sir.

CALLER: (bad cell) Thank you for taking my call, Rush. I’ve been listening for 20 years now.

RUSH: Thank you, sir.

CALLER: Speaking of absence of leadership, how about absence of proof? We have yet to see any kind of proof. I mean, God, at least Colin Powell had a Lego setup and some black-and-white pictures, but who’s asking for proof now? We’re going on a five-second video kind of similar to what happened over there in Benghazi. Where’s the proof? What do we have? Come on?

RUSH: We have the word —

CALLER: Gotta have something.

RUSH: What do you mean? We have the word of Barack Obama! That’s all we need.

CALLER: That’s all we need?

RUSH: It’s all we’ve ever needed.

CALLER: (chuckles) Uh, I think we’re in trouble.

RUSH: Yeah. In fact, your question, in all seriousness, is really timely. Folks, I mentioned this earlier — and Dave, thanks for the call. This is really good. I mentioned this earlier. Who does Obama put in the position of selling this? One of the biggest anti-war figures in American history, John Forbes Kerry — who, by the way, served in Vietnam. He actually mentioned that in his testimony the other day.

Here’s a guy who believes the worst when told about the US military. We all know Kerry’s story. So Obama puts him in there, and he’s out trying to sell the use of force. What a gift to Vladimir Putin. Vladimir Putin is now saying Kerry is lying, and we’ve got the audio of that. In fact, grab it. Grab sound bite number six. This is yesterday in Moscow during a speech to his Human Rights Council — which is a laugh, but nevertheless — Vladimir Putin said this about Kerry.

PUTIN: (via translator) I’ve watched the debates in Congress. A congressman asked Mr. Kerry, “Are Al-Qaeda in Syria? People say they’ve gotten stronger there.” Kerry says, “No! I officially say they aren’t there.” Main combat units of rebels in Syria, the so-called al-Nusra, is a unit of Al-Qaeda. Kerry and the others know about this. This wasn’t nice to watch. We communicate with them and have seen that they’re decent people. But then he goes and he lies openly, and he knows that he’s lying. This is sad.

RUSH: Yeah, it is. What the hell are we supposed to do as American citizens? We got a guy, John Kerry — who we know that we can’t trust — and Vladimir Putin, a former KGB agent, in Russia. Who was it? Romney! Gosh, Romney! Romney was so on the money during the campaign when he talked about some of this foreign policy stuff. He said that Obama was making a big mistake putting any trust in Putin, any kind of alliance. This is being borne out. So here you’ve got Putin calling Kerry a liar.

Everybody on our stage is just diminished into a caricature, folks, a joke. So Dave there asks, “What is the evidence that they’re using that the Syrian government’s using nerve gas?” The press is now asking that question, by the way. In another telltale sign, the press is not unilaterally accepting Obama’s word on this. They are asking, “Where’s the proof for this? We’re gonna send missiles and maybe boots on the ground. Where’s the proof of this?”

That is an offshoot from Iraq, and Kerry is citing intel sources. These are the same people that told us 10 years ago that we can’t trust intel sources, that they’ll tailor what they say for a president. These guys are coming back and they’re being bitten by their own words. It’s called being “hoisted by their own petard.” They’re being bitten by their previous words. They haven’t made the case. But, again, don’t forget the real truth of this. All you need to know is Obama is counting on a “no” vote in the House so he can get the headline that we were just talking about.
