RUSH: On the cutting edge of societal evolution. Rush Limbaugh serving humanity, executing assigned duties flawlessly, zero mistakes.
ABC’s World News Tonight. They were shocked. They were shocked that I liked what Romney said. They couldn’t believe what I said yesterday about agreeing with Romney and the opportunity it presented. That I liked what he said, they couldn’t understand it. They were so stunned, they called here yesterday afternoon to the chief of staff, HR, and they asked him if I would appear on Good Morning America today.
I said, “Why do they want me?”
“Well, because you’re ratings.”
“No! They want me ’cause they can’t possibly understand how anybody would think that what Romney said is an opportunity for anything. And, lo and behold! Jonathan Karl — who I guess we’ve lost — he used to be a good guy at CNN. He was the lone conservative there. Now he’s at ABC, and I guess what happens to you when you go there has happened to him. Jonathan Karl. Let’s go to the audio sound bites. Here it is right now.
KARL: As for the conservative reaction, conservatives have been deeply divided on this. Some actually liking what Romney had to say. Listen to Rush Limbaugh today…
RUSH ARCHIVE: This is, to me, such an opportunity to espouse conservatism and to explain to people. And we know Romney’s got it in him because of what he said to these people.
KARL: But Bill Kristol — who is a highly influential conservative commentator — today, Diane, called Romney’s words, quote, “stupid and arrogant.”
SAWYER: So Republicans are divided tonight! Thank you, John!
RUSH: (impression) “Recycliiiiiiiiiiiing! Oh, Republicans! Republicans are divideeeeeed. We so happyyyyy.” Bill Kristol — “highly influential” Bill Kristol — said that Romney’s words were “stupid and arrogant.” Bill Kristol called somebody arrogant. Hmm. I don’t know what they think they are accomplishing. I don’t.
Delaware’s governor up next. This is CNN’s Early Start today. Ever heard of that show? It must be like a four or five o’clock in the morning show, early start. Co-host John Berman. You ever heard of him? I haven’t, either. He was talking to the governor of Delaware, Jack Markell. You ever heard of him? I haven’t, either. And John Berman said, “There seems to be a split among conservatives about whether this is a bad thing or a good thing for Romney, and there are some — including Rush Limbaugh — who said this is exactly the kind of thing Romney should be discussing.”
MARKELL: I’m sure that that’s what Rush Limbaugh believes; I guess it’s what Mitt Romney believes. But if you’re a senior citizen, if you’re a student, if you’re a veteran who’s come back from war, he’s talking about you. You’re the 47% that he is saying, y-y-you know, you feel like you’re entitled; you don’t want to be working. That’s not the world that I live in. It’s not the world that most Americans live in.
RUSH: Total BS. It’s the world you have created as a Democrat! It’s the world you have given this country. You have happily turned 47% of the people, or whatever the number is, into people dependent on you as a Democrat governor and on Obama as a Democrat. That’s precisely what your policies are all about, Governor Markell! That’s exactly what you want. What you don’t get, Governor, is that a large number of that 47% don’t want to be there. They’re not proud, they’re not happy to be wards of the Democrat state.
And something else that you need to know, Governor.
Most people in the 47% don’t consider themselves to be in it. They think they have more than that in them. They think they’re better than that. Now, here’s this morning on C-SPAN’s Washington Journal. The guest is Senator Tom “Dung Heap” Harkin from Iowa. Why do we call him that? He called somebody a dung heap or he was a dung heap or he was doing something with dung? We didn’t just make it up out of whole cloth. I don’t remember. There’s a reason for our nicknames here.
Anyway, Tom Harkin, senator from Iowa is there, and they took calls on Washington Journal and the caller is Neil from North Carolina…
C-SPAN CALLER: I have a question for Tom Harkin. He stands on the Senate floor and pumps up Obama, knowing Obama is a socialist. I don’t know where he’s-a coming from. His dad was a commie. How can he go home at night and sleep, knowing all these things about him?
HARKIN: I know Barack Obama very well. (snickering) He served with me on my committee when he was here in the Senate. Everything you say is just nonsense. Quick listening to Rush Limbaugh. That’s nonsense.
RUSH: Oh-ho! (chuckling) “Quit listening to Rush Limbaugh.” All the guy said was Obama’s dad was a communist. Obama’s dad was a communist! “Barack Hussein Obama! Mmm! Mmm! Mmm!” Senior was a communist. “Come on, come on. Stop, stop listening to Rush Limbaugh.”
BREAK TRANSCRIPT
By the way, Donna Brazile is retweeting Bill Kristol’s comments about Romney being stupid, dumb, whatever he said. What did he say? He said Romney was “stupid and arrogant.”
So the Democrats are retweeting that.
What’s that tell you?
